Paisa,
Why not tape yourself doing the effect and then take a look at it from a spectators point of view. You might get a "few" ideas just from watching!

If you have windows XP its a snap! Connect the camcorder to a firewire port (or get one!) Then you can use Movie Maker to capture the video. Provided of course that your computer is a windows based unit.

Several options here paisa,
Check your video card, you may actually have a video in, but admittedly this isn't common. You could also get any one of dozens of different video capture devices, like the Dazzle, which is an external unit that connects via USB or FireWire (aka 1394), or an internal card which fits in a PCI slot. It's not nearly as hard as it might sound.
Check this out for a start:

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

I´m not sure, maybe I miss the problem, but why don´t you just take a digital camera with at least 128 MB, film yourself while performing, and then load the film onto your computer?

Because digital cameras don't use film .. Smile
Because he can't find the little door for the film on his computer .. ? Smile

on a serious note, that's a good idea, these days, cameras that do video are surely common enough.
Or use a web cam. They come with capture software. I think they're a good item to have just for general principle.

Well Paisa, it’s easy.

Seems like in order to know how to perform Winter Spirit you should be a Window User. ;-)

The process of getting video from a camcorder (or DVD player, or VCR) into your computer is known as capture.
I guess we should walk before we sprint, what kind of computer do you have ?

I have winter spirit but have never used it because of the need for an ice bucket. Have you found an effective way to so it without the bucket or do you use the standard approach.

Well - I seem to be very late for this party...

I will say that I have used every suggestion in the instructions with this for presentations and ditching. The only thing that has not worked for me was the original ditching method (because I hate anything using that method.....). I had no problem finding a ditch right away that worked for me.

In answer to the question, you can use this effect without water, ice or buckets at all. I have used colored flood lights at Halloween parties here in the U.S. and candles in restaurants to do it. My favourite though is with ice, and I often have that opportunity because I work a lot of high-end clubs (boat clubs, golf clubs, etc.) where they are used a lot. I have never failed to get really, really good reactions to the performances, and it fits into my storytelling style very well.

Here is one I came up with: If you ever find yourself in a situation where you have access to a pile of those clear stones, like the ones in places where kids can scoop a bunch colored mineral stones and put them in little drawstring bags to buy, you can use those too.

I hope this information is useful to you, or anyone else that owns this effect, however late it may be.

Maybe Keith Lack could shed some light on this question. Anyone know where he is?

No problem!

Also, does anyone have a link to the Arlen Studios website that does not take you to a sports uniform page?
