I posted this over at Ellusionist and wanted to share here as well. I hope that you enjoy!
Aunt Marjory As a child, Aunt Marjory used to watch me when my Mother worked late at the Foundry. I remember the fun we used to have, and I would do anything to make Auntie M. laugh. For when she laughed, a music would fill the air, and I would laugh too. There was a game we used to play with a pack of cards. We would take turns mixing them up and picking a card while one tried to guess what card the other had picked. I remember how we squealed and laughed whenever one of us guessed right. I am still very fond of this game. Whenever I play it, and I guess right, I can hear Auntie M. laugh. Sometimes Auntie M. and I still play this game. I always carry a pack with me and you will never catch me without one, because sometimes Auntie M. lets me know that she is still with me no matter how many stars are between us. Okay, I don’t have an Auntie M. but this one sort of exploded in that hollow cave I call a skull. Even though Auntie M. is a fictional character, we all have a friend or loved one that is no longer with us because they have moved or moved on….you know….on! It is drawing from this experience of separation that most people have had that will provide you with an emotional hook and will also help you to really act by thinking of that someone. As for the effects side of things this is the perfect time to dust off the stacked deck that most of us have hiding in a drawer. My personal favorite is the Osterlind Breakthrough Card System. Talk about a bulletproof stack. Also rather than a standard pack of Bicycles, a Tarot stack could also be used in which case I will direct you to T.A. Waters Mind, Myth, & Magic that has some interesting thoughts on a stacked Tarot pack. If you do not have either of these stacks, dust off one of your Dover books and you might find a good ol’ Si Stebbens stack to use. To bring Auntie M. into play Trace Unseen may be what the doctor ordered, as a card that everyone knows is in the deck vanishes with no funny moves. Basically they see the card, you put the deck down, and it’s gone. This script may also work well with the Ghost Glass effect. Let’s say you pull out a small photo frame with Auntie M. behind the glass…. does this one need any further comment. Anyhoo, I just wanted to share this one and if anyone else has some ideas please feel free to share as well. Take Care! |

Beautiful idea, I love it! Nice hook to it, I'm working on a piece right now that centers around a glass eye that belonged to a friend of mine. In the story I saved him when he was being beat up & he was hit so hard, the glass eye was knocked out. Much like Aunt Marjory, it is made up, but I know peole will respond to the story.
Excellent idea! Ichazod |
