Thanks truthteller. This whole "public domain" idea that I brought up was basically speculation on my part, so it's good to hear an explanation from someone who knows what they're talking about. I also agree with you completely about republishing someone else's material.

Hey Magic w/ HART, its not 1st time,2nd time ,3rd time,4th time or even 5th time its like Magic Makers always copy other magicians work and sells them as their own work without thier permission. And if you think just by writing the author's name next to an effect in a web site is giving CREDIT then I can make 10-20 DVDS with effects of all magicians without their permission. And just start selling my DVDs and jsut credit them in an online site.Just recently he made a DVD show off with cards , where every single flourish was other guys work and they didn't even take permission , but when time came and some guys said they don't want thier moves to be taught in other videos .ROBB STIFF replied that he already sent the sets and the only thing he can do is cancel the sets.BUT as good as those guys are they said its fine but just credit our moves.Once again all they did is put it on a site listing moves and artist name next to it.I don't think that Ammar series was like that<because Ammar always gives full credits and for your information Ammar did take permission from them before putting the work in DVDs.

Nick Brown is the creator of the "Wonderland Dollar." It's a shame that someone would steal his creation. My question... is it legal to steal this?

And that's the sad part, isn't it. Nick is not a magic name. He seems to be a sincere guy who spent a long time coming up with a beautiful trick. He has taken an old idea and turned it into gold. But, since the "concept" existed earlier, MM feels that gives them permission to steal Nick's work. And that's sad.
Sadly, ideas cannot be copyrighted. There is little Nick could do, I fear. Other than tell his side and let people know how it hurt him, how it felt to have his labors taken advantage of. Maybe, once magicians see how supporting MM affects others - people like them - perhaps then they will cease buying these tainted products. |
