With the new Houdini stamp being issued here in the U.S., has anyone thought about featuring it in a closeup effect? Perhaps place it in an envelope, only to have it "escape" and appear attached to the front of the envelope in the customary position.
That's a rough idea. Does anyone else have ideas for using this stamp? Scott

It would be ideal for Martin Lewis' routine, "Stampede Second." This routine may be found in his book, "Martin's Miracles" and his video of the same name.

Sounds like a good idea, I didn't even know the Houdini stamp was being reissued, guess I'll have to run to the post office now.

It's a new stamp, magicman, not a re-issue.
There never has been a Houdini stamp before. The Society of American Magicians had been lobbying the feds for years to get one printed. And, just like an "overnight success" in magic, after many years work -- here it is! :rotf: cheers, Peter Marucci showtimecol@aol.com |

At least now I don't feel like such a putz.

Maybe you could use the stamp to do a card FROM impossible location routine.
Have a card selected and signed, then, ’just to give the card a little help’ stick master escapologist, Harry Houdini on to it (you’d probably need tape.) Place card in - oh I don’t know... I had this Houdini style wallet once where you would place a card in a double open ended plastic envelope, screw a large screw straight through the middle of the card and then pull it unscathed from the envelope. Something like that? I don’t know if anyone has heard of Zeev Shwartzboard’s (think that’s how you spell it) "Tornado" effect? deck of cards is removed with a hole through the center of each card. A card is freely selected and placed back in the deck. A bolt and a wing nut are used to securely fasten the cards through their holes. There is no way to remove any of the cards without tearing them, or is there? Of course the performer slowly removes the un-torn selected card from the deck, bolt is unscrewed & all is handed out for examination. Something like that would be quite cool. I am away from my library at the moment, but Jim Swain has a dynamite effect in his second book that involves a playing card that you mail to yourself.

Put the stamp into an empty 1/2 pint milk carton and have Houdini escape from it. He reappears stuck on the outside.

Where can I buy this stamp?
I looked on the website of USPS, but only found an old article from 2002. I couldn't find where I could purchase it.
