I've just heard that Hunter S. Thompson has died at 67.

The news here is refering to it as an "apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound".

I'm a big fan, and consider Thompson to be one of the key reasons I pursued a career in writing.

I don't know what else to say.

Was listening to a radio interview last night of authors who admired him and one of them made an educated speculation that the only possible reason he took his life was that he might have recieved news that he was fatally ill and decided to take control of the situation himself.
RIP Hunter you crazy diamond!
