If you have a Spencer's Gifts in your town check out their selection. They usually have everything from the scary tracks to the horror music.

There is nothing scarier sounding to me than the "Carmina Burana" by Orff, although the fact that the main theme "O Fortuna" has been used in almost every horror movie in the last 30 years makes it a little cliché. I prefer some of the other tracks from it - there is something about chanting in latin that really ***les my neck...

... and then there's the ever-popular gregorian chant.
That's MISTER Swami Bill to you.

never underestimate the power of the twin peaks soundrack, boys... although you should avoid the theme since it's too well-known..

'Le mystere des voix Bulgares' 1&2. Gorgeous, other-wordly choral music. Secular, yet with the tender yearning of the best religious music. You hear a couple of samples from these albums on all sorts of scary contemporary soundtracks.
I mentioned on another thread Thomas Tallis, a sixteenth century composer of choral music. His 'Spem in alium' has a cathedral choir singing up to forty different parts simultaneously. If that doesn't set the scene, you want a new stereo! Regards, Caleb Strange.

Tangerine Dream, especially the soundtrack they did for William Freidkin's "Sorcerer", is another source. "Midnight Syndicate" is a goth group that has cut six or seven albums for the Halloween set. Delightfully macabre: chanting, gongs, b-r-r-r-r-r-r!
