Just an idea (maybe it's not new):
Take a deck and shuffle it. Then mark the back of each card with the name of the card which is on top of it. Let's say you have the 3S and the 4C faces down onto the table; mark the back of the 3S with the name of 4C. With this deck you can do very interesting fingertip peeks. |

This use of Marked and Stacked deck was explained in Tenyo's 'Magic Card' 50 years ago.
Also, 'Peek Deck' decribed in an issue of Phoenix has similar concept although it doesn't use a Stack. (I forgot which issue). Thanks for reminding me this concept, I conceived an idea of combining this concept with a gaffed deck. Its effect is : You Riffle Shuffle the deck and place the deck on the table. A spectator cuts the deck and look at the bottom card of cut portion, then replace it on the lower half. You can now guess the selection. (JW-20). Hideo Kato |

I checked Phoenix and found 'Peek Deck' was invented by Franklyn Taylor and published in December 25, 1942 issue of Phoenix.
I think it is still a great gaffed deck to perform today. Hideo Kato |
