A family made up of four persons, the grandfather, the mother, the father and the son are heading back from an excursion. They must cross, during the night,a chasm by taking a footbridge which can only support a maximun of 2 persons.Taking account of their age and their physical capacity, these persons take respectively 10,5,2 and 1 minutes to cross it.Notice that these persons have only one torch light, essential for the journey and that the width of the footbridge does not allow any going beyond.
The question is, what method could they come up of in order to have all the members of the family crossed this bridge before the departure of the last cable car? They have not more than 17 minutes of time. |

Doesn't someone have to return with the torch?
