I guess is depends on the venue and its size. I´ve got a 42" plasma at home and whilst it is great for home theater, it might be a tad small for your use. Besides, its a real pain to travel with, mine weights about 85 pounds. If I were you, I´d go with a projector, InFocus makes great ones. Packs small and travels easy.

I second the choice on projectors. The plasma will be too small.
You realy should be using a projector that has a minimum of 1800-2000 lumens and a contrast ratio of 2000-1. In an environment with any ambient light you will need a projector wit more like 3000 lumens or above. Also don't forget you will need a screen or have the venue/client provide it. If you use one screen in the center you may want to use rear projection. Right now we are using two projectors and shooting in onto scrim. Kevin

What brand of projectors do you suggest (besides Infocus)? How much does one expect to spend on a good projector? Is there one place that has better prices than another? I would also love to add projections into my show but know VERY little about them. Any info you are able to offer would be great. Thanks

I wish I could recommend another brand, but I have been so satisfied with InFocus that I have never used anything else-except on some occasions but they´ve been rental units (big ones).
InFocus is a reliable manufacturer with a great range of products. I have a strange feeling that Kevin is using or has used InFocus projectors...(Kevin is my memory correct or am I just delusional..?) You just need to look around to see where to get the best price. Of course you must see the projectors live before choosing a make and model. If I were you, I´d go with a 3000 lumen unit as Kevin suggested-you might one day encounter a venue which has so much ambient light that your projector just isn´t enough and that creates problems. Better be safe than sorry. Also remember that the projector lamp is good for only a certain number of hours and needs to be replaced, so having spare lamp(s) with you is VERY important though not cheap-some lamps are well over 400 bucks a pop. Getting your own screen is a wise thing to do, that's one way of making sure of the quality or your show and the projected images. don't cut corners when choosing a screen, best screens are not cheap but they´re worth it-dont go with a white bedsheet streched over a frame... I wish I could offer more advice on choosing screens, but I know very little of the terminology in English but I am sure Kevin can offer help with selecting screens too.

Yes we have used Infocus in the past as well as Sonyo, Sony, Barco and Christie...the last ones were not ours, but provided by the producer...and way out of anyones price range.
We are currently using two BenQ's. They have one major downfall. They go to the dreaded blue screen when no signal is present. There sis a solution, but may be overkill for some here. You need a blackburst generator or a video mixer. If you are using more than one input, such as DVD and one or more camera, then a mixer is definately required. mvmagic mentioned bulbs...don't foregt your spare and do remember they are quite expensive..the big projectors use four bulbs and replacing them is $1600 or more each time. He also mention screens. DaLite is prety much the standard. There are three different type of screens... front projection rear projection front and rear projection For an all around solution the front and rear combination should take care of you in any situation. They can be bought on ebay everyday. Hope that answers some questions. Kevin mvmagic wrote... (Kevin is my memory correct or am I just delusional..?) Now those are two totally diferent questions....LOL, just kidding
