Hi Scott, Great to see you at the 'cafe '!
Can I ask, what has been your most eye boggling close-up effect you've came across, be it one of your own or something you've seen ? (without a deck of cards). Cheers Kenny.

Well, I really like the Gary Koznitsky (sp?) Cigarette Up the Nose. It is commercially available... and it is cool. It's really visual and the audience doesn't see the vanish of the cigarette coming. As far as eye popping, this is on the top of my list.

This post just kinda died a few days ago! I was hoping more folks would get on and comment on their favorite close up effects that really make the spectators do a double take.
Another one of my personal favorites is the Matt Schulien effect "Card Under the Tablecloth." |

Bob Sheets' "It's the Rules" is great for a close-up audience.

I used larger dice and performed "It's The Rules" as a stand up piece for an audience of up to about 75 people. And it played great...
It also plays great on the cruise ships where I can use video support. There I have performed it for audiences of about 1000! This a solid routine and it has never failed me... |

I seem to get the most reaction from the mis-made bill of any close up effect that I have ever done. The reaction is immediate and then grows as people examine the bill and cannot find any seams. Another close contender is the dime through the hand using a dime and penny set. I have a quick follow up trick to forestall the inevitable request to "do it again."

I would have to say Derick Dingles Twist with the kicker ending of the color changing cards. It has served me well over the years and is great for table hopping...
