I know this might sound weird... is there a way to purposely tarnish your copper??
I don't polish my copper cups coz I like the tarnished look... but they don't seem to tarnish evenly the insides are shinier |

Take care as that chemical, popular in art classes where copper sheeting is used to make relief sculptures, can turn copper almost black.

Hummm... sounds dangerous
Thanks, I'll pass on the chemical.. sounds like the cups will tarnish unevenly. |

This topic has been covered at least twice before. I know, I was in the middle of both discussions.
I use a compound found at my local hardware store. I'm out of it now, or I'd get the name for you. It's basically a "patina" solution for artifically aging copper and brass. If you clean the cups well first in soap and HOT water, you shouldn't have any problem with it discoloring unevenly. It might take a few tries before you get the results you like, so if it doesn't work the first time, just use some copper polish to remove the tarnish and try again. Just don't let the solution work so long that the cups turn black. The next color is green and you definitely don't want that. The key ingredients are copper sulphate and some sort of aluminum salts. I tried straight copper sulphate (liver of sulfur) that I had laying around from my days working with stained glass, but it didn't work as well as the commercial mix. Check the pictures on my website in my sig for the results.
