If you're using a PA and music for anything, I just got an AirClick
which is an RF module to control an iPod. Wow.
Perfect.

Just search the web for "airclick" and "ipod"

you'll find it.

Amazing!

Frank,
What do you plug your ipod into for the speakers? I'm very happy with my IR to RF remote that I use with my CD boom box with custom burned CD tracks. When working outside, I just hit the buttons on the boom box myself. Are you using the ipod and the airclick outside?

Not outside yet but I would like to this summer at the ballpark
(where I pretend I'm a busker ever year).

I use the airclick, iPod, then ipod to guitar cable
(which you can buy from griffen)
which goes into the PA.

my PA takes a guitar cable. if your PA takes the RCA jacks,
then you need a converter (or maybe griffen has that too).

if your pa takes the microphone type connector then you get a converter
for that.

I'm also set up with 2 mics. a wireless handheld (or wired if necessary)
and an AudioTechnica mic that wraps on the ear and is basically
invisible. Not a lav. mic. and not the madonna mic. either.
It's great.

everything I have runs on battery so I need no outlet required.

It's unreal how far this stuff has come. I started out in the music business and I can remember when it was hard to just get good guitar cables, much less something worth while to plug them into. Now the guitars are cordless!

It is magic!

Perhaps it's time The Magic Café added an engineering section? And I'm not joking! Many of us have real questions.

They do have an F/X section.

Here's an image of the mic I purchased.
They are over $400 but if you look you might be able to find them for $300.
If not, let me know.

I tried it out last night. Works great.

Frank,

You are right. I've just never associated it with this topic. It has great "stuff" in it.
