I was wondering who produced that show.
I remember when it aired and I found it
very interesting.

Is it available on DVD?

I'd like to do something similiar dealing
with the History of Magic surronding the
city of Chicago.

Interview of magicians from the original
roundtable, riverview park, the saturday
hangout gang at Magic Inc, and those
who were assistants to Dante and Blackstone.

There aren't many left and well, if we don't
do something, we many never hear from their
mouths about that important era.

I already have 4 hours of tape of my dad
talking from when Mark interviewed him
for the MAGIC magazine article with my mom
and Marshall. I think expanding that with
a real time documentary would be great.

"The Art of Magic" was produced by PBS, and I'm pretty sure it was available on videotape, which means it may now by on DVD. I would assume that there is a PBS website where you could check.

Chicago has an extraordinary magic history, so a documentary on that subject would be a fine idea.

Here's another question.

How would you go about presenting the idea
to PBS and/or the Chicago affliate to monetarily
back up a production like this?

I have a list of people who I'd know would definitely
have to be in this documentary already.

Ah, the mysteries of getting a television project off the ground.

There is no formula. Sometimes it's pure luck -- being in the right place at the right time. But to start, I'd suggest working on a written proposal, perhaps augmented with some sample video clips, while asking around to see if anyone you know has any friends connected with the Chicago PBS affiliate.

I probably can ask Uncle Jay this and he would know right?
He knows everyone...That's a good idea..In fact Will Clinger
was at Jay's 80th b-day party a few years back so I probably
can go through him about a proposal.

I still have the tape of when he was at Magic Inc and they did
a 20 sec shot at my dad's Roundtable photo because its the only
odd one with the fish pulled out of a cowboy and he's in the
Okito Costume.

I know they might have archives of film, esepcially with Chicago
Stories. I know my dad had stuff done there for transfers way
back when.

So who knows, maybe this project won't be soo difficult after all.

Thanks.
