Jerry gives has an excellent section on proper application of fanning powder in his first companion DVD.

I won't enjoy it if I ever get my post count high enough to be considered a "special user." Is it just me, or does that make one sound mentally deficient?

I just picked up a deck of Bees today..I like the way they handle....and they look ok in flourishes..but these decks are not made for tricks...its too easy to tell if you have a card upside down because there are no borders.

Yes, but they make many forces much much easier.
I am away and will be so until late July. I will have a chance to read the forums, but I will be pressed for time, and unable to read every thread. If you feel a thread requires my attention, please PM me with a link. Thanks, and have a great summer. :

Where do you get your goldens at? I might be interested in someof those in a few weeks. Right now you could say, I'm getting a lot more into flourishes, and experimenting with different decks. I have bikes, black tigers, and bees right now. Might be getting some Tally Ho's soon.

Ellusionist designed decks. They feel close to Nuggets. They even last WAY longer.

I think that kdb424 is talking about the old nuggets. I get the impression some people are addicted to E products and will make them sound great all the time.
OMG ghosts are best in the world lolz. You know the thing. Whats more, who cares anymore? This thread is horribly old. I'm so sorry my post caused you so much discomfort as to tell me I was wrong, even in a very old thread. |

It is interesting to me that only Mr. Murphy mentioned "special fanning" decks.

Does anyone remember the old T.V. series The Avengers"? They showed a pair of hands doing various fanning flourishes, including color changes, under the closing credits. This was in the early days of color television and I think they just wanted something interesting that showed off color. I am not thrilled with the Abbott's fanning deck. I think it's back design is too busy. I have been trying the Vernet deck. These are thinner and can also be used for productions like the Nielson decks. However I find them harder to work with. Any other 4 color decks out there that might be good? Jay also known for posts that are too long

There aren't very many fanning decks available, besides the Vernet's, Murphy's, Dragon/Sexy Fanning deck, etc.
However you can get some pretty interesting effects from one-way back designs. For example Bulldog Squeezers, if aligned so the moon-man is on the outside, looks very cool in a giant fan (all the little moons line up) Flip it around the other way and do an angled giant fan and the chain on the dog will line up in a nice circle accenting your fan. It's not a color change but it is visually interesting and different! on a side note, I find that most special "fanning decks" have really crappy finishes and kind of suck. |

This may sound kinda corney, specialy with all the hype over Ellusionist, because I tend to look at a lot of their stuff at overpriced tricks that any magician with two hours of solid thought can come up with, but the Black Tiger Deck is really nice I acctuly got mine at books a million. I have a bad card collecting habbit and every time I see a deck I don't have, I feel I have to get it. Although some decks handle diffrently do to the finish and weight, I have found that with a little minor practice you can succesfully fan any deck. I enjoy the Black Tiger Deck for my routines beacuse I like to have a sort of dark, mystical look when I am doing spreads, fans, and slights. Plus, I wear a lot of white, so the cards look killer aginst my clothes.
making the unreal, real...really!

Trashmanf and CCPChris,
Welcome to the Café! (Just had to say it....) Listen folks: use what you like the looks of and what feels good in your hands, and don't worry about whether others are telling you your deck is cool or uncool. If you like the Tigers, use 'em and enjoy 'em. I do. But I'm an old guy who doesn't spend any time whatsoever thinking about whether anyone thinks my cards are cool. I agree with Squeezers and large fans--looks great. As far as fanning specialty decks go, I only own the dragon deck, so I can't comment on the others. And Artwo, who cares any more? I do. Who cares how old a thread is. If the information helps people, that's what we're here for, isn't it? |
