I have been looking around for a replacement table base. I have a worn out Eureka table base. Anyone know where I can get one for under $50?
Thanks, Bruce |

You will have to change the flange, but many drum and music stands will work. Many music stores have used ones that don't match what they sell. Some are real deals!
Odd that you have worn out a Eureka table base. I bought a dozen in the 70s that I am still using. The only losses have been broken knobs. I have learned that camper and RV stores sell them for replaement. I have also lost the black feet off several. Certainly they can be re-dipped but I just remove the remaining black feet. Sometime in the next thirty-five years, I will re-dip them! They are real workhorses. Bob Magic By Sander |

Someone else mentioned it in another thread (maybe Bill Palmer) but I, too, have modified a mike stand. They are nice and bottom heavy or in the case of those with fold up legs have a nice wide base. I shortened the main tube (rethreaded it) and then cut the extension tube and now have a table that is variable by height and very stable. Plus, it is durable as all get out. Toss a top onto one of the round base stands with a properly matched flange, add a cloth and you have a table without any legs at the corners to catch a toe on (me and my big feet).

I still have my one stand that was made from a metal music stand. Cut the top off, and made a top out of oak wood. Put a black cloth overtop and eureka! A table was born. I believe the stand was 15-20 dollars. Great deal in my opinion- considering I used it for about a year and a half; paid for itself many times. It's since been retired and given away...

Of all the music stands I have tried / considered - cymbal stands are my favorite. They are designed to take serious abuse - and are relatively reasonably priced. I had a welder make up a number of flanges to attach to various tops. I made a little table for my laptop as well - so I can type/surf while watching TV.

For curtain stands, Lucy and I have converted over to a dozen Tiki light bases from WalMart's garden shop. They are low profile, more stable than Eureka bases, black, easy to stack and move, cheap and matching replacements are as near as WalMart. Other than that, they have nothing to recommend them!

Nice idea about the curtain stand Bob! I am going to check out Tiki light bases at Walmart! I am currently using speaker stands (with some modifications) as my curtain stands.
Bruce, As for the table question, I made my own tables from microphone stands and have been very well satisfied with them. Bob is correct in that you will have to replace the flange to match the stand, but if you have the top, you should be able to get a good stand and a flange for under $50. Regan

I have a number of cymbal and music stands lying around. But what exactly do you guys use to attach the stand to the table?
Like the Eureka comes with the stand and the flange to screw into the table. I can't find the flange part. Thanks, John |

John,
I use an Atlas AD-11 female flange. It is 5/8" fine threaded and will work with standard microphone stands. It is normally used to mount a gooseneck or mic holder on to a podium, or to a permanant surface. I doubt it will work with a cymbal or music stand. Sorry I can't be of more help. Regan

Thanks Regan. That's ok about the cymbal or music stand I have all the stands and plenty of mic stands.
Thanks I found the flange. John |

You're welcome John. I hope it works out for you. I really like the tables I made.

Does anyone know how you can attach an attache case to a fold up stand. I am looking for something portable for my stand up show.

Some great ideas there. I will defiantly try some. Diverting fromt he subject slightly. Do any of you use a close up tabel for close up performances. Like a Jim Zee table (wooden fairlry large with felt top) If so does anyone know where to find one in the UK or any tips on making your own.

Yeah, or the Atlas AD-11 flange and a microphone stand. I would probably get a very heavy duty mic stand for this. It would probably be a good idea to reinforce the bottom of the case where the flange attaches also.
