Hi
I just got the following message at the top of an email about the new quickchange book: The author and co-authors of the book "Quick Change" send their best wishes to Ali Bongo, the caricaturist of the book, for a speedy recovery. Get well soon Ali - your thoughts are with us! I have met Ali on a couple of occsions and he is a real gem in magic and if this is the same Ali Bongo as the one who used to be vice president of the magic circle then he is a very special person. Could someone in the know just let us know how serious this is, hopefully it isn't too bad. Nick |

Yes, by all means, keep us informed. Ali Bongo is one of the nicest guys in magic. He is extremely creative. I hope it is nothing serious.

Apparently he has been admitted to hospital so it must be fairly serious.

I know he was not at FFFF this year. I can only hope for the best for him. He is a great guy and comrade.
As a side note, I do know that both Alan Saxon and he talked to Jay in hospital. I know that meant a lot to Jay. Richard

Ali Bongo has been in and out of hospital recently, but nothing too serious as far as I can make out. He was unable to make it to America last month since a minor accident caused a high fever which again had him in hospital.
These visits to hospital seem to be more routine, as Ali was able to tell me what dates he would be free and when he was supposed to be traveling, and when he was going into hospital. I received a fax from Ali Bongo on my return from the UK ( unfortunately I did not have time to make it down to London to visit in person). We had sent him flowers which cheered him up no end. They arrived just two minutes after he had returned from hospital - he was amazed at the timing! |
