Hmmm... it might help if you let us know which set you bought and from where.
I know that the 'instructions' that comes with many sets is severely lacking. The Rings is one of those classics, where it is assumed that you either already have a routine, or will be getting one soon. That being said, there are many good books and videos that will teach you the fundamentals of a good ring routine.

ok here is a simple routine,email me for details if you wish
count the rings seperately hand one out for inspection take it back and link it to the next ring hand out the linked pair hand out 2 single rings for examination take them back one at a time and link them hand out the chain of three hand out another single ring have the person with the linked pair to come forward, do a slow motion link of the two you have left seperate the two and ask him to try to do the same take back all rings and form a chain of 8, gather them together linking all rings onto one take a bow |

get Brad Burts teaching video on linking rings very well done for beginners . also Witt Hydan has a linking ring routine with just four rings

I found useful to learn linking rings' moves and routines in the Richard Ross book. It contains an effective and easy 3-rings routine which is a true lesson in magic artistry. Hope it helps.
