Hey Everyone,
Tomorrow at 5am, I am leaving for Juarez, Mexico. I am going on a week long mission trip with my church. We are building 2 houses, ground up, in 5 days. It sounds like fun, but al ot of work. Please pray for my church and I as we go on this journey. Ofcourse, I will be bringing some magic. I am only bringing what I can fit in my carry on bag, and what isn't illegal- airport. I think I am ready. Most of my magic is visual and doesn't need patter. I have gotten some lines translated for a couple card tricks that I plan on performing. Most of my magic will be for spectators or our building. I am also the camera guy for our trip...actually every trip we go on. I know from watching other videos of our trips that the kids love to be on video. I am not going on the trip to be a big magician or the star of the trip, just to help out people and put smiles on the children's faces! Until next week, Tyler |

Your heart sounds right Tyler, and it sounds like a terrifc effort.
I will pray for your efforts and for the residents of those houses that you all will build will know the God of all creation and His Grace through your efforts. God Bless BroDavid

Go Tyler!
"What's your drug?" she asked. "Hope" he said, "The most addicting one of all."

Well, it's late, but the time change makes it feel earlier. I got home a couple hours ago. Overall, it was a fun trip. I didn't have much time at all to do magic. Cards were not allowed in Mexico so I couldn't take them out.
Magic wasn't the reason I went. I went to build a house. We got split into 2 teams and each built two 2-room houses in 4 days. Wow, it was a lot of work. The families were so happy to see their new houses. Their old house consisted of a few pieces of tin and cardboards. It was horrible. Now they have a somewhat nice house with power and a fan, and best of all, it is insulated. I had fun with the children while working on the house. You should have seen the smiles on their faces! That made the trip. Time to get some more Icy-Hot. -Tyler |

Some times we get so tied up in what we want to say (or show...as in magic) that we forget that although a smile is a blessing, a roof over their heads is far more permanent reminder to them of God's Grace.
Well done Tyler. Thnanks for the update. God Bless! BroDavid

Your trip must have been with Casas por Cristo, right?

My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

No, I work for another missions organization, Global Missions Fellowship. But I have led a couple of teams to Juarez and spoke to some folks who were working with them down there.
In fact, one of the cell churches planted on one of our trips was in a neighborhood called Felipes Angeles, in the home of a leader whose house was built by Casas Por Cristo. Mark

Tyler, I'm so glad to hear you had a good time in Mexico. Last summer, I went to Juarez with my church through YouthWorks, and it was a life-changing experience. I was going to warn you about bringing your cards, but I saw the post too late! I was able to do a little bit of magic for the local "Kid's Club" in order to teach the Feeding the 5000 story.
It was an awesome experience! I just got back from a mission trip to West Virginia last week, and even though it wasn't as powerful as Juarez, it still a fantastic experience. Andy |
