Over in the Believe It or Not area of the Café we have a ton of talented people posting. These are people that know what it's all about a have the experience to back up their advice. Folks like Slim Price, Harley Newman, Doug Higley, Kondini, Don Driver, the various Drs. and many others are there willing to share the love.
In poking around other areas of the Café, I've found folks of equal quality in their fields. Which brings me to my point. We should all give Steve Brooks and his staff a heart THANK YOU for creating this special place. It's an online 24/7 magic convention. Man, there has never been a resource like this in the history of magic. Let's not take it for granted. |

Steve ... I invite many of the magicians that visit Myrtle Beach to the Café, you have indeed amassed the largest collection of the greatest minds in magic in history - all right here all for free! Spending time at the Café is better than any magic meeting, lecture, or book you could ever buy ... thank you again!

JoeJoe,
If you will give up all this magic malarky, stop shaving your face and go back to being JoeJoe the Dog Faced Boy, I can make you some REAL money. Okay? |

But then he's in the same situation as Carrie Fisher: he has to pay Geroge Lucas a royalty every time he answers the door and somebody sees his face!

I can't agree more on what Todd Robbins said. THANKS BROOK. As a new comer of the conjuring world, themagiccafe really helps me a lot.
Once again, a BIG THANKS.
A novice't reflection: I like watching my audience's jaws drop, but sadly in reality I'm just too busy to enjoy it.

LOL ... Todd, the only problem with that ... I've never ever been motivated by money ever. When I was 18, I was told that if I wanted to be a street performer, I needed to goto California because that's where all the pro's were. So I hitchhiked 3000 miles. Nice offer, but it's not the money I'm after.
Now ... can you promise my picture on Time magazine as the "Most Influential Dog Faced Boy" in history? That I might be interested in! JoeJoe

Where in CA did you end up? San Francisco or Venice?
There's not a lot of contention for that Most Infuential Dog Faced Boy title, so we might have a shot. |

I was kicked off the Santa Cruz boardwalk before I even got there (according to the police, my devil sticks were considered "weapons") ... then in San Fransico I was mugged ... twice! After all that, I thumbed my way to Florida with nothing but the clothes on my back where I hooked up with a carnival for a short time. They wouldn't let me work the games, so when the weather broke I went back to the Ocean City Boardwalk and continued my quest to be a street performer. So I basically have gone from sleeping in a homeless shelter, to owning my own house (paid for in full).
I love street performing ... when I was a toddler still in a stroller, I remember seeing a magician draw a crowd using the chinese linking rings at Bush Gardens. It is my earlest memory ... as you already know, it's nice to be a child your entire life! It appears that the hard part for me is over, glad my dues are paid. It is amazing what someone will go through to do what they want to do. Now that I am a "real" street performer, I don't know what to do next. I'm looking for a challenge (but not as challenging as working Market Street - lol). I'm interested in Sword Swallowing, and you may get a call from me enlisting in the Side Show School - let's both hope it's a good summer here at the beach for me. You are still doing the Sideshow School yes? Maybe you could start a new thread with details the for us? I know I am most defidently interested! JoeJoe

Ok Steve Brooks... Credit goes where it is due and since I'm the new kid on the block, I've lurked in a lot of these postings. I can't belive all the information that is here. I hope it doesn't go away. AND I do personally thank you for doing what you are doing for the sake of magic.
It will be very interesting to see where all this goes in a few years. In the mean time, I wish you good luck and continued success. By the way Todd thanks for this thread. |
