Hey everyone, I recently saw some magician/comedian perform this on the comedy channel and was actually dumbfounded. The effect, he has a cloth with (perhaps a stick ) or something attached to the top and is holding it kinda like those guys that wave a cloth infront of a bull and yell 'toroo'. anyways all of a sudden from behind the cloth a hand appears and comes to life and starts moving up and down and actually moves infront of the cloth. eventually the hand moves all over the place, its actually a glove, not a hand, and it moves all over the place, he turns around, and it moves behind him, jumps around his body, you can fully see the hand (the glove rather), it doesn't seem to be hidden or anything like that and I'm almost sure theres no way it was his hand. anyways in the end, the hand ends up pulling him off stage.
thanks durgy |

I saw Michael Caine do this once, but then he had to kill somebody.

Isn't that Chris Hart's routine... he played Thing in the Addam Family movies and developed and entire routine where a ladies' gloved hand moves all about.

It sounds like a Chris Hart premise, but I have never seen him do the routine as described.

Actually that sounds exactly like his act.
Durgy, was the glove a pinkish color? And was the magician a tall thin guy with black hair? If so, that's Chris and that's his act so stay away. Greg

I didn't see the broadcast so I cant be 100% but YES that is a pretty good play by play on Chris Hart's act.
"What's your drug?" she asked. "Hope" he said, "The most addicting one of all."

Yes. Chris Hart does and performs this routine and he often does it at comedy clubs. I have it as a part of my video collection. What was described is exactly what Chris does in his act. I am 99% sure what you saw was his comedy club and stage act. It is very well done and extremely creative.

I guess it must be this Chris Hart guy then...because to what I remember, it was a pink glove...
Now I must admit I have never heard of the guy... So now that we have that out of the way...is it strictly his routine that he has invented and is keeping for himself? Or is it on the market? Btw, thanks for the quick responses. Durgy |

It's his routine that he came up with. I believe because of his part as Thing in the movies he decided to come up with a routine about this disembodied hand that moves around.

Yes, Chris Hart (at least his hand) played "Thing."

I met this guy through a Canadian touring show. I got a pic with him and the "thing" hand was on my head. A very nice gentleman.

Chris Hart does some great magic. I have also had the privilege of seeing some of his other wonderful routines and acts. All of them are very thought out and so original to his own character and style of performance. A very creative thinker who thinks outside of the box.

This sounds like a routine you could build your own off of. But, admittedly, it'll take a lot of imagination. Hottrix sells a "hand" item .. but how to produce a disembodied hand while your own or mechanical glove hand moves in back of you (perhaps climbing your back?); that's where your brain will come in. There are halloween type moving hands out there on the market that are cheap. Sounds like a whole routine in the works.

A similar ( if not the same) effect is performed by Holland's "Magic Unlimted".
