I also have Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic, such a rich source of effects for us beginners. And the presentation is very simple and easy to understand.
All the best! Dynamite

This is a great topic as I'm struggling what to do after reading RRTCM. I've just finish reading RRTCM and is thinking of whether to get Card College series or the Ammar's videos?
I want to get Daryl's The Encyclopedia of Card Sleights but not sure whether it's worth getting it. I've learned the basic sleight and want to perform card magic. Daryl's DVD teaches card sleights but not many card tricks involved. If I want to learn some card tricks wouldn't it be better if I go for Card College series?? So what do you guys think?? Please advise!!! What would you go for if you were me?? Daryl's or Ammar's video/DVD?? Would you learn the sleight first or tricks?? I'm too confused!! |

Funnybusiness,
Your best bet is to learn sleights in the context of a trick or tricks. This is why books like Royal Road and the Card College series present the sleights followed by effects which employ them. Card College is worthwhile and expands on what you should have learned in Royal Road. As for the videos/DVDs, you'd be better off with the Ammar ones than Daryl's Encyclopedia of card Sleights at this time. Michael Ammar teaches the sleights you will need to perform the tricks taught so you will have a reason to learn and practice each new sleight. |

The Ammar videos teach all the sleights you need to do the tricks on the videos. The Daryl videos are great, but you won't get inspired by them if you are relatively new to magic. You don't need 50 ways to control a card.
If you learn the sleights by practicing the tricks from ETMCM you will feel you’re going somewhere. But to start you up buy Easy To Master Card Miracles - Encyclopedia Of Card Sleights. I hope I made sense. Jesper |

ZMAN,
Royal Road is considered the bible. Suggest that and after that expert card technique. I find videos so much easier to learn from, although I haven’t got and card videos, I’ve still got a lot to learn from those books. P.S - Royal Road.

Try Ed Marlo's Revolutionary Card Technique. The book has over 500 pages. Ed Marlo is one of the best card manipulators ever.

Royal Road is a great book.
But check out the Tarbell books. Sure, you like card magic now, but once you get your hands on these you might decide to expand your interests. Great books. Mark

There is nothing that remains so constant as change. Don't end up like concrete, all mixed up and permanently set.
