I mostly work with fire arts, such as fire poi, fans, eating, staff, etc.
I'd really like to get into some things like sword swallowing and glass walking. I'm a student in Tucson, and in a performance group here. |

Welcome Kate,
You should find a lot of new friends (and maybe some old ones) here at the Café. You might check out one of our most recent special guests Todd Robbins. He is one the world's premier sideshow performers;sword swallowing, eating glass, stuff right up your alley. Just click his name here and it will take you to his forums, which are in the Special Guests 2005 archives. Sit back, get a copy of coffee, and enjoy your musings.

Awesome. It's so exciting. I just love learning new acts. I'm trying to find some local people on here too, is there any particular way to look up locations?

Katherine,
Looking up members by location is very difficult. Most of our members haven't identified their location in their profiles. Others put in 'cute' answers and others are very generic (e.g., United States). Keep your location in your profile (as it shows up each time you post) and I'm sure if somebody is near you, they will contact you. By the same token, feel free to contact those that you see are near you.

So far it has been very helpful. I got notes from Slim on the glasswalking. I tried it for the first time too, wayy exciting.

Have you heard of Maskelyne's drinking glass of razor blades? They would come out of his mouth ties together...

Lol, I've heard of similar things. I'm a bit afraid of razor blades though. I'm afraid of internal injury, external doesn't worry me much.

Nope. I actually can't juggle. I'd love to learn, I just enjoy poi/fans/staff more because I can dance. Eventually though I would love to get into it.

On another rant: I'm sick of jugglers saying poi is so easy. It would be like if I learned to catch two juggling balls, and proclaimed juggling as one of my many talents.
