Hi everyone,
As per many of the posts we see here on the Café, I too would like to ask if anyone has seen this effect before. I've been messing around with these for a couple weeks now and I believe it to be original... but I'd like to check. This is just in case I ever decided to release it at some point. The effect is as follows: A card is selected and signed on one half of it's face by a spectator and the other half by yourself. The card is folded lengthwise and a visible tear is made in the center of the card. The is then unfolded to show a hole in the center of the card. A bill folded lengthwise is then introduced and pushed throught the hole. During this both signatures are completely visible. You can pull the bill in and out of the hole. You ask a spectator to hold on to one end of the bill and gently pull it from the card themselves. The selection is folded in half along the rip and gently massaged with the fingertips.... the hole seems to VANISH. The card is now 100% restored with both signatures still in tact. You may hand the card and the bill out for complete examination. Is this something that has already been published or am I in the clear here? As far as I know, I have never seen this effect or heard of it's existance before. However, I have been wrong in the past and I always like to make sure before I lay claim to anything. Thanks! Chris.

Thanks Vinny,
Doing so as I type this. A demo will be up in a couple minutes. -Chris. Done! There is now a video clip of the effect here: http://www.stolzillusions.com/hole.htm Please remember that I do understand that this needs MUCH more practice. It's still a work in progress. I just wanted to get this up so I could find out of it's something I can call my own or not. Thanks. -Chris.

I cant watch your video just yet... the comp I am on will not support the newer version of WMV.
But, I do know of an Asian magician who does a T & R with a hole in the center of the card. I believe he is releasing a DVD called "Fire In The Hole" with 7 versions of that particular effect. You can check out more at http://www.huronlow.com It has been a while since I saw his version, and since I cant watch yours just yet it would be unfair to say they are the same. Maybe you can contact Huron and find out if your ideas are similar. S.Segal |

Thanks guys!
I also just threw a couple other clips on there. One of which is a false shuffle and the other my UnGimmicked version of NFW. Thanks again for the compliments and I'm happy to hear that so far, the hole restoration trick seems to be original. -Chris.

Hi Chris, Very nice work young man. I like your idea with the Torn&Restored card with a dollar Bill. Very Commerical my friend! Your push thru shuffle also looks great. I wish I could do it as good as what you've shown. Your NFW is very good too. Like it alot. Keep up the good work and thinking!
Best, J.C.Wagner

Thanks a bunch!
I'll never forget sitting at a card table with Martin Nash over my shoulder watching my shuffle saying, "Make it tighter!". It was the same way with the second deal. "If I can see the brief with a magnifying glass, it's too big." Thanks! Chris. P.S. I am a regular performer of JC Wagner's torn and restored card effect.

Yes I do Joseph. Although honestly I have been so busy with a few illusion design projects I haven't had a lot of time to get out there and book at lot of gigs these days.
Are you from the area? -Chris.
