I promised a number of people I would talk about the hypnosis DVD from L&L, why it was never released and why you never heard of it!
(I hope this doesn't get me in trouble!) We had just finished recording the original Mind Mysteries. Because I was so familiar with the material, we hardly had any retakes. (As a matter of fact, in all the videos we have done, I don't think we did more than 5 or 6 retakes combined total.) It was early in the afternoon, the audience was all set up and all the cameras and equipment were in place. Louis knew I did hypnotism and asked me if I wanted to do a hyp show. I was taken by surprise, but then it dawned on me that no one had ever done an instructional video on hypnosis in that format. So I agreed and we set up the stage for that. I had my Journey into Hypnotism music and we hooked it up to provide the music. The cameras started rolling and I went into my whole show. I got about 8 people to volunteer and 6 of them went under really deeply! I did a whole lot of stunts and was feeling really good about getting such results in such a confined and artificial envirornment. But when I looked up at Louis and Jim staring at the monitors, they were not smiling. The audience was reacting well and I felt the show was going great, so I just kept going and ended it. When it was over I walked up to Louis and Jim and they had this look on their face. I said, "What?" But they said to wait until after everyone was out of the room. Then they replayed for me what the cameras had recorded. See, the cameras are situated for a head on shot of the action. The audience was over to the side and I was standing right next to the volunteers. What I didn't see, nor any of the audience, was that one of the very pretty young ladies who had come up to volunteer and who had gone under, was wearing a very short mini-skirt! From the side or where I stood, everything was fine. BUT - from the front camera angle, well, there was more recorded than was ... "proper" ... for this type of video! So guys, as much as I'm sure you would have loved it, that sequence will be forever on the cutting room floor! Sorry, Richard |

This should be re-shot immediately!
I predict this dvd would be well received by the magic community. Brandon |

Perhaps it would be possible to have a piece of furniture, such as a small table, digitally generated to be in front of the young lady. But I expect L&L is not set up for that kind of special effect.
I suppose then someone would say your videos were doctored! But this really has nothing to do with the effect and it would save some good footage.
Humans make life so interesting. Do you know that in a universe so full of wonders, they have managed to create boredom. Quite astonishing.

At this present moment in time - I cannot think of a DVD which would sell more than if Richard made a stage hypnosis DVD.
