I was looking through Tmyers and found a lot of material in DVDs and such on balloon hats. What would you guys say is the best DVD on the market focusing on balloon hats?
http://www.tmyers.com/dvd/dvdindex.html thanks, Gideon

Hello!!! I can't say enough about Don Caldwell's Mad Hatz and Wild Wearables
http://www.tmyers.com/dvd/caldwell.html This DVD has made me get sooo many more tips when I twist!!! Easy to follow and the Guy is FUNNY!!! This is the best DVD on hats that I have. Ed Chee also has a good DVD for it too. RogueClown |

The triangle base was Ed Chee's idea, the concept behind it being that because of the 3 points of contact unlike the traditional balloon hat it doesn't have to be an exact fit therefore if you want to give someone a hat and they're sitting at the far end of the table you don't have to reach over everyone to measure their head. On the other hand all the business about measuring the persons head size does make for a few good gags etc. They're not particularily harder to make than the average hat they just serve that particular purpose.
I'd definitely reccomend Caldwell's work he's one of the most original thinkers in balloon twisting out there at the moment. I'd also reccomend Ed Chee and Rick Mohrs dvds on triangle hats and the "balloon crown book" is a must. |

Thanks for the help guys, the Mad Hatz looks good, but it seems that it uses a lot of different kind of balloons, stuff besides your basic 260s. This would make it harder to do at seed, and cost more in types of balloons to buy and cary. Are there any videos or dvds on hats that use mostly 260s? http://www.tmyers.com/video/masori.html looks good, do those numbers indicate 260s?
Thanks, Gideon

You may want to go with the Ed Chee DVD as he's using mostly 260s. I've learned to go by T's recommendations - he really calls it like it is, and as you can see by the description, he gave the DVD a good review. Concerning Don Caldwell, I don't have his hat DVD yet. However, EVERYTHING he puts out is fantastic; the guy is a genius when it comes to balloons. He does use a lot of different sizes of balloons - Dave Bartlett seems to stick with mostly 260s. Ron |

Well, I think I will buy the Caldwell DVD and a book called Comedy Balloon Hats by Norm Barnhart. I am thinking about getting one of the Triangle Hat DVDs as well (going all out), but can't decide between the Rick Mohr one and the Ed Chee one, anyone have suggestions? I have looked for reviews in many different forums including this one and can't really find anything to base my choice on. They both are on the same subject and about the same time, and both seem good, how can I choose!? Maybe I should just go with the book and Caldwell's DVD.
Thanks, Gideon

Hey Gideon,
Nice work on the website. That Don Caldwell lady bug is a BIG hit!!! You can also make a turtle the same way. mocha 260 and dark green 5 inch round. 5 inch round for the eyes too. Well worth the money. I know that he just updated his website too. Good luck!!! RogueClown |

In my 'oh so expert' opinion I would say that Don Caldwell actually is the best balloon modeller in the world.

Uh oh, we will see how this one plays out. But out of my large collection of Caldwell and Tricky The Clown DVDs, Caldwell deffinatly takes the cake. He is very creative and fun.

The best tapes I have ever seen on balloon hats is the Balloongineering series. Can't remember the couples name, but really great stuff, especially hats!
