I find that when I use the perfect pea and the street shells on a hard surface they do tend to bounce at that certain time. Any suggestions. Open comments or PM's are appreciated. By the way I am a neophyte at the shell game.
Thanks, Michael |

You need to put the forefinger on the front (pointed end) of the shell, and press down as you push forward.

Thanks Whit. I knew that You would chime in when the SFS shells were mentioned. I love the props. On a close up mat they are effortless.I'll get the hang of them on a hard surface. Once again, I loved your Soapy smith video clips. Let me know if you ever come out east to the NY area. I'd love to A. Shake your hand. B. Buy you a drink and C. see you perform.

Whit,
I have a question, I just bought your dvd and am really enjoying it, You talk about how to deal with people guessing and people who pick the right shell. But how do you deal with someone who knows a little about the game and guesses that the pea is in your hand? |

"That's a forty dollar bet." You try and get them to make that suggestion when you are not holding out by feinting that you are, and treat it like a bet--one that is twice as expensive as betting on a shell. You act unfazed, like it is a perfectly legitimate possibility--you don't hide the fact that you are using sleight of hand to move the pea around. Once you have burned them badly this way, it won't come up again.
The pea should never be held out for very long, and never until the spectators have been satisfied that it is always under a shell. With two, peas, you rarely have to hold out, and that is the way our system is set up. |
