I just read the book "The Magician and the Cardsharp" where there is a reference to a flourish called The Gambler's Rose. Does anyone know if a description/explanation of this appears in print anywhere in the magic literature? It must be a pretty old move as apparently Alan Kennedy learned it pre-1930. It sounds like a nice flourish.

Thanks,
Will

Could you be talking about the rossete? pretty much all you do for a rossete is just twist the cards around counterclockwise to get a really small fan. Nothing spectacular.

No the Gamblers Rose is not the "rosetta fan", 'a' at the end.

Jerry writes "Rosette" in his Companion DVD's

I think I'we heard before that the instructions for the "Gamblers Rose" is the same as for the Rosette.

But I might be wrong, and Jerry might have done a typo tvice in his companion DVD.

If you guys heard on "Flash Cards" someone on the HL Forum asked about this same question! Anyways Jerry states that in his 21(!) dictionaries (no I don't know how to spell that) Rosette is the right term for something resembling/looking like a rose, when RosettA is a town in Egypt...

So I guess it's Rosette.

Yea, I'm pretty sure that was Mala that asked that question.

If you are looking for a reference, it can be found in the book "Expert Manipulation of Playing Cards" by Lewis Ganson. This book also contains the majority of the book "Exhibition Card Fans". There is a description of the move in there. It's kind of underwhelming.
