Just found this on http://www.imdb.com (Movie-Database):
Dr. Tarbell directed in 1934 a weird Sci-Fi Film based on Buck Rogers... Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (1934) I'd like to see that! Has anybody seen it?

Looks like he acted in it too. I never saw or heard of it. I only know the one's with Buster Crabbe and Charles Midelton.

I saw this at an LA Conference once. Bill McIlhanney had located a copy in the USC or UCLA flim library and it was hand carried to conference and returned by a University representive to show it.
To be honest, it was really hokey. Much worse than the original Buck Rogers stuff but similar. Tarbell was bit of a quack in some areas but did put together one heck of magic course. Richard

Stewart James in print also says that Tarbell performed a Buck Rogers themed stage show at a World's Fair around this same time. I'd have to get the book out for exact dates and places.

I just have to show everybody this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rz1AHjN27xU I think dr Huer is played by Harlan. It says that the film was premiered at the Chicago World's Fair in 1933/34, so maybe that's where he did his themed show? I know it's a old topic, but maybe someone finds this interesting. |
