I have a trick that calls for using the residue off burnt match book strickers to cause
smoke from your fingers. Can anyone comment on how safe this is I know it is poisionus for one thing. Also any ideas on a better way to create the same effect? please feel free to pm any ideas. |

They now have a commercial product that uses the same thing, but better.
"Litte smoke" I bought 2 or 3 packs of the stuff. I used that for awhile but on to ultra smoke, which dosn't leave you with sticky residue or stink 1/2 as badly. Of course ultra smoke IS kinda overkill for coin vanishes, I liked the little whisp of smoke little smoke or the home made version from matchbooks caused. Steven |

Isn't Ultrasmoke toxic too, though ?
Boy, that would seem to be the Holy Grail: finding something that generates a fair amount of smoke, that's safe, non sticky, non smelly, and is small and portable. (Yes, I know of Jim Paces" smoke generator, (I have a Wizard Stick) but that's neither small nor portable.....yet, anyway. I'm looking forward to see what he comes up with)
Just hanging out with the rest of my fellow dregs.

The nail trick that you are referring to works best with the Striker residue method. I do a LOT of effects with matches and matchbooks and have suffered no ill effects...yet.
The smoke 2000, although beautiful doesn't fit this effect well. You really want the spectators to have a clear image of the fact that the smoke is coming DIRECTLY from the nail. As far as I know the method you are using is the best for this type of effect. Good luck!

Yes I agree. For those not in the know about the matchbook method, someone should post a detailed description on making your own...
You can get a box of paper matches very cheaply at any supermarket... Steven |
