Ron, I always tell them how to applaud for you... with hands up in the air. LOL
dpe666, One of my favorite reactions was I had just performed a card effect for my parents and my mom just stood there silent for about 30 seconds, then said "$#!T". It was awesome. I also like when the spectators say "oh my god!" I respond with "just call me Tom" I do appreciate laughter, and silence, and applause, and heck, if they throw tomatoes and other vegetables, I will just make a salad. |

I think stunned silence followed by the sounds of torches being lit and the bonfire being prepared would be pretty wicked. I have, obviously, failed to achieve this yet though.

Some years ago I was performing one of my coin routines and Mike Powers gave me some great advice.
The phases in this routine are very, very strong because everything happens in the spectators hands. People often just sat there and said nothing. No applaud, no laugh or gasps. Then Mike told me I should give a longer pause between each phase. How he worded it was basically, "You've just knocked them out. Give them a minute to recover". Sure enough it turned out that moment of no reaction was "stunned silence". When I started to just sit back for a moment and let them "recover" they'd start to react to it. So in my experience a stunned silence can turn into a strong reaction of you give them a moment to reach that level. Ron Jaxon |
