Hey guys. in need of some help.
Ok, so I was at the shop today and tried on a jacket. Now the clasps at the back didn't fasten like skin tight directly right up against my back. There was a good size gap where the jacket splits at the back. After I crossed my arms and they were fastened, it wasnt toooo tight. I was expecting like, hardcore tight. And in overall, it looked sort of baggy. Now, Im not sure if straight jackets are suppose to look baggy but.. that's what it looked like. How do you know if it fits? whats it supposed to look like. Oh and the bottom sides were going outward like th epicture in this link http://www.ronjo.com/Merchant2/merchant.......e_Code=R Any help is appreciated!!

Jak, the jacket in the photo looks to be about one size too big on the model. There are a couple factors that you must consider before comitting to a particular size of jacket: #1, What is your comfort zone, when it comes to size? Do you feel restricted when it is tight? Only go as tight as your comfort level will allow. Remember, if the jacket becomes too tight for your comfort level, then the jacket will find it's new home to be the back of your closet (never to be seen on stage again). Also, don't worry so much about what other people think....THEY do not have to wear this thing, YOU do. #2, Is this jacket going to be cleaned often? Washing and dry-cleaning can shrink a jacket down, so if you plan on washing it to soften it up or you sweat a lot when you perform escapes and cleaning the jacket often is a must, then you have to take this factor into consideration. In my opinion, I like the jacket to be tight; tight enough to make spectators say "Wow! How is he going to get out of that? Look at how tight it is! The straps are cutting into him!" And yes, I have heard that dozens of times in the early part of my career when I could fit into my first straitjacket. Those days are long gone. LOL! But, keep in mind that I am comfortable with the jacket being very tight; it really doesn't bother me as it does some people. I hope this helps. All the best, Mike

Before I knew about sizing (I'm fashion challenged), I bought my first jacket. It was a Small, and every time I used it, the circulation to my arms was cut off, and they'd be numb for the next day or so. Not good.
It sounds like the one you tried was at least one size too big. You should try several sizes, and see which one feels right to you.

Yes. I think it was to big as well. Some of the other guys at the shop said it almost looked like it was drapped over the front of me and that's it.
Il keep looking. But I'm affraid to buy one online now because if it arrives and doesn't fit..... it will suck.

IMHO it is best to find somebody in your area that also has a jacket, mainly to see what you could fit in and then order appropriately.
My problem was I ordered mine, then lost weight after getting it. (that also reminds me, I should wash my jacket, it's been about a year since I did it last) |
