I lost the cord that came with the Ring Leader video. Where could I get a new one? Could I take a shoe lace, cut off the ends and tuck in?

You mean you need a special cord for Ring Leader and that a shoelace with tips won't work?
I'm just asking because I don't know. I use a shoelace w/ tips for the ring and cord I do. |

The cord can usually be obtained at a fabric store... at the local shopping mall.
At least that's where we got ours twenty years ago when I did a ring on cord routine... I assume they're still selling the stuff. |

I believe you can use any type of chord for Ring Leader. Gregory Wilson says he uses a certain type of chord with a nice fabric to it because it looks more formal and professional.
A shoelace will work just fine, however, I find it more difficult to use a shoelace because it is a bit thinner than the chord that is provided with the video. I purchased one just like the one in Ring Leader from a fabric store, as wsduncan already mentioned. If you go to just about any fabric store, they have different types of rope made of different fabric and you can just pick out the one which feels most comfortable to you. |

Gegrory Wilson thinks the velvet cord is classier than a shoe lace and better fits his sophisticated style and dress. Some think a shoe lace is better because it's a common object, and the fancy cord may bring about suspicion about the prop. Depending on your style, dress, venue, and patter, you can use any cord that fits your needs.
That said, Joann's fabric stores (nation wide chain) carries a very nice velvet cord similar to what Gregory Wilson uses in his video. This is the stock number on my receipt: 4599031 3/16 VLTUBNGD012. This is for the burgendy color velvet cord. They also have black and red. Have fun!

Thanks guys!
Jaz- I would use a shoelace but for most of the people I would be performing for, I think they are at that level where a shoelace might be "unacceptable." Derek Merdinyan |

I hear ya Derek.
As Mediocre says a shoelace is common object and just a preference of mine. I've got no class anyhow. |

The operative word is Gregory Wilson THINKS it's classier.
Jazz, I'm know you're a classy guy- your postings always have class!
