I believe there was an effect in Expert Card Technique which used this.

I like 'Card concepts' which explains the principle but prefer Peter Duffie's 'Principles and deceptions' which has an excellent descrption of the Gilbreath principle and also several other principles. Conversely 'Card Concepts' has several Gilbreath based tricks - some of which are really stunning.
