Im not really a beginner, but I was recently looking for a new store to purchase things from--particularly in the size ouf there selection and the lower the price. I live in the US, so only US stores are perfered because I don't feel comfortable ordering over seas. If you know any, please let me know.
Thanks- |

Check out penguinmagic.com
I'm sure they have some stuff. Can anyone else suggest any stores or give comments about penguin magic and their awesome stuff? |

And don't forget http://www.mjmmagic.com/ I really have no qualm with PeguinMagic - and they continue to do well. Pretty soon, they are going to offer IPO (kiddin').

Abbott's Magic Manufacturing Co. in Colon, Michigan has been around forever. You can check them out online and/or order their latest catalogue. The cataglogue is over one inch thick and includes everything from close-up, stage, parlour and full scale illusions.
I have also heard good things about Daytona Magic in Floriday. They have a decent shop and an online site. I've never been to the shop, but I have ordered a few things from them online and their service seems pretty good. For online shops, I have dealt with Stevens Magic Emporium and Hocus Pocus for quite a number of years. The service is very good and the range of products is quite extensive. Steven even carries a number of larger stage illusions. Hope that helps. Kent

I surprised nobody mentioned Hank Lee's
magic shop. Lots of stuf that can vary from easy to difficult, depending on your level... Have a nice day! Louis Jutras |

Elmwood Magic is an excellent mailorder site as well as Magic Warehouse. Penguin serves it's purpose and I have no qualms with them. I've dealt with Hank Lee's factory and Magic Methods Online. Everyone I've mentioned have done me no wrong and I recommend all of them because they all have fast efficient service. But, I have 2 brick and mortar establishments in my hometown and there is Daytona Magic Shop in Daytona that I really love to frequent. Nothing compares to on-hand demos and advice and the comraderie that a local magic shop provides. But if you aren't as lucky as I am, then by all means use the internet and look at the aforementioned companies listed above. Good luck and happy shopping!

A few of my favorites to add to the list. All have a good selection and are usually on the lower end of the price range:
http://www.elmagicshop.com/ - online only, I think, but the service and response to my questions has been very good - Glendale, CA http://www.daytonamagic.com/ - also have a brick and mortar shop, Daytona, FL http://www.diamondsmagic.com/ - Peabody, MA My local brick and mortar place is FuntymeMagic. Inventory is smaller than the above, but Ed is usually quick to ship and is helpful answering questions if you call. http://www.funtymemagic.com/shop/

Funny that nobody mentions http://www.magicproshop.com . I made several orders with them, and they are very reliable. Their prices are very good, and you don´t pay for shipment!

Penguin isn't bad for DVD's haven't bought their tricks. Great customer service same day shipping. But I would suggest ordering from a brick and mortar store with an online presence. First you support a shop, second when you visit or call them you get from most of them the straight dope on a product, not the hype of some ad copy. The owners know their magic and they can suggest something that may be more appropriate for you interest or skill level. They can save you some money but I wouldn't count on it since in the store your going to find someting else to buy.
In the Washington D.C. area stores with an online presence are Barry's Magic where Barry is a lot of fun to talk to. Denny and Lee's Magic Studio in Baltimore has a large selection of books. In Chicago you have Magic Inc.. Magic Inc needs no introduction. |
