Well done Nat,
We love hearing these success stories from people using our DVDs. Dan Sperry just recieved his own personal DVD and here's what he said: "The quality is excellent, the tricks are excellent, and the price for these are waaaay to cheap for what we get in return. Thank you again! This is totally one of the best REAL PRODUCTS to come out for magicians in a LOOOOOOOOONG time. High five guys!" Rawk on, Dan Sperry

A couple things,
has anyone had a problem when you burn them, they wont play on some machines or they freeze up? I am assuming it is the media I was using(bought some cheap dvd's from staples) switched to memorex and seems to be working better! also what software are you using to burn it? and finally I found a fairly good boost in sales of my dvd's when I started shrink wrapping them, you can buy sleeves made for dvds, slide them on use a hairdryer takes 30 seconds and they look real profesional!

I found I had a few problems with cheaper DVDs and also went for Memorex which worked 100% of the time. I am now looking in to getting 1000 DVDs produced and they come fully finished with shrink wrapping and the works. But I like your idea of shrink wrapping them yourself, thanks.
I have been burning them on my Mac so I just use TOAST. |

Paul,
You and I need to chat one night at The Sands. I really should be doing this as long as the local market isn't flooded. Just teasing guys!

Hi Neale
Would be glad to chat anytime. I always enjoy popping down to The Sands ... for those that don't know it's a Friday late afternoon session of magicians here in Vancouver. I try to make it if I'm in town. We are in the middle of doing some new filming and will be ready very soon for the magic market ... No. 3 AND no. 4. DVD number Four will be cheaper at $150.00 for those magicians who don't want to go with the full personal teaching DVD. Thanks Neale Paul

I should explain as I received an email with a question. DVD 4 is not a 'personal DVD' in that I am not going to put a photo' on it, however No. 3 is. Both are still generic with white gloves only, no talking just general background music and some 'text'.
Regards Paul

I have number one and to be honest I have no idea why I bought it at the time. (Being semi-retired I do very few paid shows nowadays) I really had no plans on selling that many of them. Maybe just enough to get my money back and then I would have a neat magic item to give away.
Being the founder and director of a local magic club, I like to see that the club has plenty of money in the pot. So I dusted of the master copy and ran a few off for the members to sell. Turned out to be quite a fund raiser. The label showed that the money was going to a good cause making it very easy to sell. Plus it’s hard to beat a hundred percent profit. Had I had this years ago when I did mostly fundraising shows for the different groups, this would have been the icing on the cake. Well no, they didn’t have dvd players back then. LOL But seriously, as a fundraiser this is the perfect item. Find a cause/reason to sell them and watch the sales soar. Paul, I’m sure I will be buying number four. I will find something to do with it. Great product. Tom

Thanks for your comments Tom and glad you found a good use for it. I really like the idea of the local club using it to help make funds.
The response has been amazing. I think magicians have realised how expensive it is to hire a studio and editing suite, we are saving them thousands of dollars! The quality of DVD's and filming just gets better and better the more time we spend in the studio and it's an exciting project to be working on. Regards Paul

DVD players are so inexpensive and available now, it certainly makes sense to go after that market. I make my own DVD's using a variety of software tools and copies for me cost less than 30 cents each. This increases my profit margin vs outsourcing what I can do on a laptop. (Pays for the laptop in no time).
I go the extra mile . I record segments of the show that uses the audience and especially the birthday child. After the show, I dump the DV footage and edit and drop it into the existing DVD footage. The entire contents are then burned to DVD. This footage contains previous recorded material with inserted fresh scenes from the childs party. A still pic is printed for the DVD cover and DVD label. Once you have the hardware and software, the cost is only 30 cents per DVD. My contact info is printed all over the DVD as well as an INFOMERCIAL bonus feature showing how anyone can "Be the Star". All of these DVD's get shared with friends and family and if the quality is above average, it will generate more shows and more DVD's. The Software I use is ULEAD DVD PRO and Sony Vegas 6. Future plans for the DVD include a bonus section for simple, easy to learn magic. There is no better "gift" you can sell your clients. How many of you would like to watch your child be a star in a magic show from when they were just a child? What would that be worth to you? |
