I’ve seen some member AVATARs that have made me wonder where they were taken and maybe what was going on at the time. For the AVATARs that don’t fall under the new and improved AVATAR rules, the animations or drawn pics are just as interesting!
This also reminds me of a bizzaro story I should share. Seven years ago I drove a friend of mine to several antique stores. She's a collector and I was merely keeping her company and driving her around town for the week. At one shop I purchased two antique (although look a bit modern) standing picture frames. Despite the photo's antique look, I thought the contained photos were the throw away types you find in new frames or wallet picture sleeves. The manager said the photos were real and dated. I checked and found he was right. I jokingly asked if he knew anything about the folks but he didn't. One of the photos is of two fellas standing in front of a tree with grins from ear to ear. The other is what appears to be a family of eight. All wearing their Sundays best, the elder in center with hat on lap, and not revealing much about who they were, where the photo was taken, or much of anything for that matter. Both photos are dated and stamped with photographer's company name in NY. The two photos I originally had in mind for those frames now have frames of their own as do the two boys in front of that tree and the stern faced family of eight. As I tried to slip the photos out of the frames, the folks sitting before that cameraman glarred at me as if to say "You wouldn't.....". And eventually I didn’t. They've had a place and presence in my home among my familiar family photos for seven years now. I don't know who the hell these people are but now it’s like I can’t get rid of them as they’ve been in the family for seven years! Ugh! How do I get myself into this sort of thing. Oh! back on subject now, so as to not single anyone out (god I wish I could but won’t.) I’m not listing my favorite AVATARs but welcome anyone to volunteer their AVATAR history. |

The history of my avitar?
You probebly don't really want to know, but... The computer program Printshop created the avitar back in the early 90's. I purchased the program and found the graphic just as I started teaching chemisty. I don't remember who it was (probably my wife) pointed out how much I look like the graphic, and so I sort of adopted it. I have been using it for years.

Mine is a cutout from a larger picture where I'm being presented "The Semper Fidelis Award For Musical Excellence" which was awarded to me at my highschool. I got a certificate with it as well as a metal, all of which was presented to me by a United States Marine.
My previous Avatar which had me holding an S-fan of cards was taken in Toys-R-Us in NYC in the magic department. There was a little circular table area for the magician but he was away so I stepped in and did magic for people. |

Mine is a pose next to one of my favorite paintings. A prize of $5.00 to whomever can identify the painting and artist. This contest not open to my employees or family members. Good Luck!
Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy; The way into my parlour is up a winding stair, And I've a many curious things to show when you are there. Oh no, no, said the little Fly, to ask me is in vain, For who goes up your winding stair -can ne'er come down again. |
