Has anyone ever heard of Funny Business Agency, booked through them or better yet, been hired by them? I'm trying to find out if and how legit they are? Thanks!

If they are from Michigan and run by John Yoder they are as legit as you get. Check them out on the web. A fine group of both college bookers as well as comedy club bookers and even some corporate work.
If they are the same agency, you WANT to work for them badly. They have LOTS of clubs that use them, many colleges and regularly get NACA showcases for their clients. If it is the same people and you can take the opportunity to work for them, do NOT pass it up!! If it is anyone else I am mistaken and appologize profusely.

Yes, they're legit. Yoder books a lot of comedy clubs. I'm not as high on him as Danny is, but he can get you work.

Just remember that when using any agent or agency that not only should they interview you, but more importantly, you should interview them. Just as you will be respresenting them and they need to know you will do so in a professional manner, they to will be representing you and your name to the clients they work with. You want to make sure they will do so in as professional a manner as possible. So do not be afraid to ask questions, interview them and if you feel they are not up to your own quality, then do not be afraid to walk away from it.

Hey starpower, if he is just starting out, which he seems he is, then Yoder is great for him.
I have always had honest dealings with him. Which for an agency is saying a heck of a lot as you know.

I have worked with John Yoder and The Funny Business a handfull of times... great people. Yah, they mostly book comedy clubs, one-niters, colleges, etc...
While I agree with Kyle that interviewing an agency is a good idea... that is more for "exclusive agent" relationships... With Funny Biz, it will be more like this, "I got a gig in this town, at a club, on this night, for this amount of money... you want it?" As far as honesty... I have never had a problem with Funny Biz. Ask any big name comedy magician, and they have done their share of "Yoder gigs" |

Yeah, he can get you work and may be good for someone who's just starting out. But so can any number of agents, so I'm not of the minset that "you WANT to work for him badly." Yoder can be condescending and has a tendency to act like he's doing you a favor by puting you into a club. I don't like people like that. But, if personalities don't bother you, go for it.
