Hello people,

I just thought of a stupid direct mailing idea:

You could send a little box with a mouth coil in it. You'll have to modify the coil a bit first.

As they open the box, their is a tag which says "Pull".

As they pull and pull and pull, eventually, it is attached to a small message.

"Don't let your event turn into garbage.
For color and excitement, please consider David the magic person or what ever."

You would use a rainbow streamer. They would be left with a mess of streamers and a business card.

Definitely, something to rememeber.

Other than the cost of the coils - any ideas or better TAG lines.

Cheers,

Dave

Oh, you are more than welcome to try my idea out if you think it's good.

Sounds good, but expensive! you would have to ship it in a box, it would get crushed in an envelope, so then add shipping etc. it would be expensive but if its something your going to use to big high paying gigs then it would be worth!

Dave, direct mail has a poor success rate for one reason. It makes people angry. They are sick of it. So when you do direct mail the point is to make it as unobtrusive as possible. Also as cheap as possible, from a expence standpoint not a quality standpoint.

Making someone pull and pulll and pull and end up with a bunch of junk and your business card will not do anything to improve their disposition.

The cost of the mouth coils is quite high even when bought in bulk. So is the cost of sending a modified box, as well as the time involved.

You would do better with a catchy card, an eye catching phrase and send them to the point of saruration. That is the way direct mail works.

Oh and by the way it really is clever, not stupid. Don't call it stupid. It may not be functional, but certianly NOT stupid.

Direct mail can work, if done properly. Including something a little bulky can increase the likelyhood of it being opened.

I'm not sure people would pull out an entire mouth coil, so they may never get to the message at the end. You may be able to buy party garland in bulk. I thinking of those decorations that fold flat but pull out into about 6 foot length.
