Picture this: You load ten 747s with nothing but slush powder, fly them over the next major hurricane, and drop the slush powder into the eye of the hurricane!
This would not only partially solidify the hurricane, thus slowing it down and minimizing the damage it would do, but there's also an endothermic quality to slush powder, which means it would help disperse some of the heat. Does this sound like the bizarre imaginings of a magician? Wrong, it's actually being proposed by the maker of Dyn-O-Gel (the trade name for what we call "Slush Powder"), and the U.S. government has actually considered this. The sheer horror of gel globs entering our ecology... wonderful.

OMG!! I cant believe that would actually be considered, the people would just die from all the blobs. But it would be kinda neat!

Well, it could work.
in the past we have used sand bags to absorb water and prevent floods. isn't SLush powder just, really, really, absorbent sand? |

What about a really BIG fan to blow the hurricanes away from the main land?

Why not just drop David Blaine into the Hurricane. He could just magic it away. It's a win win scenario, no matter how you look at it.
