One time I used IT for stage/parlor show. I had a tissue box setup with a piece of tissue paper inside it. I sneezed, grabbed a tissue, scrunched it into a little ball, and floated it. People were calling it my snot ball. Hehe.

What about the leaf that rises from your hand? Anyone know a place that still makes these or the rising pencils?

What hook up did Blaine use for his self-levitation?
Just kidding...... You should check out Dean Dills match levitation in in his book Intimate Miracles. It comes with a performance video. This looks extremly magical. |

I saw one demo on line of one that doesn't use IT. It floats off the hand. Anyone have a source of this one?

It's invisible Dick. As long as you don't do it in direct sunlight it's no problem. Shirt doesn't matter either far as I can see.
Regarding the ITR... I agree it would be the wrong way to float a leaf, or anything. They are irresistable as far as a gadget goes but they make for bad magic. Looks like it's on a string with all the bouncing. I'm not a smoker so I use a candy or whatever's handy with the Fearson hookup. I keep a wax ball on the end, ready to attach to whatever or whoever. (If you attach it to someone's shoulder you have an impromptu floating rose hookup.) Crap I tipped my best bit. 2 points for sharing right? Rob Rob |

Rob, correct, it does, but it uses a different prop.

I think using a leaf for a levitation makes all more real. since everyone knows a leaf can blow around, it's showing that it is not completely impossible making it more believable in the specatators minds. less chance for them to think "oh string" or try to wave their hands around it. it makes a more natural effect.
Keep staring, maybe I'll do a trick.

Is not presentation the issue with a light or a heavier object?
I can see a playful presentation with a leaf using the three most common methods of IT loop, IT body (Fearson or LeClair), ITR or elastic IT to over come the implied limitations of any. Talk about colorful leaves falling from spinning in descending circles, the mystery of life cycles, the joy of jumping in leaf piles. Tilt your previously flded hands forward revealing a leaf in them and slowly spread them the leaf suspended between them making some moves so that it wafts between them. Bring you hands back together and take a deep breath blow towards the leaf as it spins outward and away from you. Let the leaf dance around you briefly do some playful moves leaf and ring etc. Gesture the leaf upwards to your hand. Move to third technique and slowly move away from the leaf as it is now suspended at distance. As you walk away have it sag slowly to the ground. Wave to it. Have it bobble up and down a couple of times. turn and walk away as it collpases to the ground lifeless. Maybe set it to Vivaldi's Spring from the Four Season's. Pachelbel's Canon in D. Cliched pieces but appropriate. If we only think in terms of naked effect or method we can lose so much opportunity.
