Keith Clarks Celebrated cigarette act. It was produced and sold by Silk King Studios so you can check with Ruth Clone for availability. Abbott's Magic may still have some copies as they have some of the other booklets by Rice. I think they are reproducing them.
As I do not have Tom Mullica's videos you may check with LL pub to see it this method is discribed on any of Tom's material. You will get your mouth burnt while practicing, so if that does not bother you then these sources are the only ones I know of. |

What is tounging, and what is it used for?
Thanks. |

Thanks...in Mullica's book there's only a short explanation of it.

Cellini talks a little about tonguing cigarettes (with some illustrations)in "The Royal Touch" and demonstrates it in the Art of Street Performing II DVD.

I wish I could add this to the above post but it's too old to edit.
You might want to consider rolling your own cigarettes for this since you're prob. going to tear the filters off anyway. Cigarettes around here are really expensive but cigarette tobacco and papers cost about half and you get around 1/3rd more smokes. I'm assuming you already smoke, but if you don't then remember that, though it's not absolutely guaranteed to be the direct cause of your death, it WILL make you stinky. (Yet another post by someone who hasn't done the effect he's posting about - thought it might be helpful).

Thanks for the advice Saheer, and I don't smoke (and don't intend to start), which is why I'm curious about the length as a full size unsmoked ciggie seems to be too long to tongue, unless I learn to overcome the gag reflex...
could you elaborate a bit more bout tearing off the filters? Thanks... |

Buy a pack of rolling papapers , roll one around each cig you will be tounging. It will still get wet but will not fall apart.

The real trick is, to try controlling how much saliva you have before you tongue the cigarette, and do your best to not produce any while the cigarette is in your mouth (yeah right). I reverse tongue single cigarettes, and since I first started, I have been able to decrease my saliva production quite a bit. I still have problems with the cigarette going out on me while learning to talk with a reverse tongued cigarette. I found that you can practice saliva control by putting a Tylenol/Aspirin, or other nasty tasting pill on your tongue and do your best not to taste it. You can stick some paper towel or toilet paper under your tongue to help absorb the moisture but that will only work for a short period, and if you're planning on vanishing the cigarette and showing your mouth empty, you're best leaving this method alone. The J N Hilliard book Greater Magic covers tonguing and plenty of other cigarette sleights.
THe book is somewhat difficult to get hold of, however if you can pick up a copy it will be one of your best purchases in magic MIKE
