Hey Guys and Gals,
Basically, I am relocating soon to a country where I don't speak the language, and I'll be needing to do this trick non-verbally. So my question is, how would you go about selecting 4 volunteers, bringing them onstage with you, and then setting them each onto a chair, but without any dialog and strictly miming all the way? A free autographed (and only slightly used) t-shirt goes out to the funniest routine! Many Thanks, Chance |

I would ask Todd Robbins, he does this stunt. He calls it the Flying Ebola Brothers. He may have an idea for you.
He is a member so you could PM him.

When searching thru the audience, have each potential guy stand up and flex their muscles, with a funny pose... get the audiences approval, or disapproval. Once you find all four guys, have them all hold hands (ala kindergarten) and lead them to the stage. Once on stage, they can flex again, and pose, but as a group. Take a Poloroid. Then introduce the chairs. Have them sit. Have each guy put their hands on the guys shoulders in front of them... mime massaging... have them start massaging eachother... then have them lie down... more funny by-play... pull chairs out, TADA! Take another poloroid (or 4, one for each guy to take with him) Walk off stage. Let them collapse. Collect paycheck.
P.S. Keep the slightly used T-shirt |

If you ever see the Cirque do Soli the clowns are pretty universally funny and use little speach.
Whistling is a great thing, like Harpo Marx.......and pantomime. It may be a lost art form but WOW when done right it is amazing to behold. Even more so when the chairs come out! watch the old Marx Brothrs movies and find some of the Cirque to watch the pantomime. It is an amazing form of entertainment. It would be fun to watch someone build it to something. Keep us posted. I will take an 2xl for the shirt please.

What is the 4 chair balancing stunt?
Can it be explained a little more in detail?
The power is within us all...I'm just a little more full of it.

I beleive, but may be wrong, its a stunt with four men, they all sit on a chair each in a square formation, quite close to one another. Theyre all facing outwards, one looking in each of the four directions. They lean back so there heads/shoulders are resting on the person behind thems lap. The four chairs are then removed and all four guys are left there balanced in a cool looking structure.
Well, that's what I remember seeing a few years back but I might be talking about the wrong thing here. Ollie |
