Hello. I am going to Lehigh University on December 3rd for an interview and I would like to show the person that is interviewing me an effect that will make them remember me. I actually wrote my college essay about magic. What trick(s) should I do so the interviewer doesn't forget me? I was thinking counterfeit spectator, card on ceiling, or ACR. What do you guys think?

Psychokinetic pen...bending pen...floating pen...anything that related to stationary would be good...but then again, do you wanna look desperate for a "YES" answer from the interviewer?
Double posters should be shot!
No really!! |

What do you mean by desperate? I am just showing them my talent.

What is your specialty? Do you do cards, coins, mentalism or something else?

Cards, but I can do anything pretty much. I just need to leave them with a souvenir so they'll remember me. With 'Counterfeit Spectator' they'll never throw the bill away and 'Card on Ceiling' will always be on the ceiling, but maybe there's something else out there.

411 will make them certainly remember you, as will 'Counterfeit Spectator' - only problem with that is, the power is in the fact that you 'do not know them' - it could be a little too obvious.
With cards, how about'Solid Deception' - they can keep the deck as a souvenir also. A torn and restored card would also be excellent. Simon |

For cards you can floor them with a signed torn and restored card (I highly recommend D. Garcia's Torn) and they can keep the card when you are finished.
You can do a coin bend with a borrowed quarter, or do a key bend for them. Or you can simply do an ambitious card routine and let them keep the signed card when you are finished. |

Construct your own Pop-Eyed deck (I think that's the name of it). Show all the faces and they have various colleges names on them. Turn the deck face down and when he selects any card...it turns out to be the college you are interviewing for. Patter about how your future is "in the cards" or whatever. Trust me, he will remember that you selected this school above all others and he did too.

Great idea, Steve!! I am definitely doing that! The trick is similar to a Fluffer deck, right?

No. I'm not sure what a Fluffer Deck is, but I know what it isn't and it isn't this effect. The Pop-Eyed deck is what you want. Once you know how it works, they are easy to custom make for whatever application you want. And thanks for crediting me with the idea, but it actually came from Jim Sisti using it for another application. It will work here just as well, however.

Where could I find more info about it? and, by the way, the Fluffer deck is by Paul Harris and it's an effect where a deck of cards is spread face down, shown to be normal, a card is selected and signed on the front, the card changes, and when the deck is spread face down again the name that was signed is spread across the entire deck. looks really cool. I could do this with the colleges name.

I wouldn't use the Fluffer Deck. I know it's a Paul Harris thing, but I think you might be missing my point. In the routine I'm suggesting, the faces of the deck have the names of different universities. When you turn the deck face down and the interviewer selects any card, he turns it face up, and it has the university's name on it (the place you're interviewing). His impression is that he was able to pick the No. 1 University of all of those available in the deck.
List the points of why you want to attend that University. Show him the various schools available. Ask him to pick the University that meets the needs of the students the best. He picks his school and you say, "Interesting, I came up with the same conclusion". He will remember this. Just using the school's name in a routine, such as the Fluffer deck, takes away that aspect. If that's what you want, go ahead. If you want to get into the University, due to the interviewer's remembering you, do the routine I suggested. Just be sure that your meet all of their other requirements. Otherwise, the trick will be useless. You want to set yourself above the competition.

Your favorite magic dealer should have it.
