Sorry if this has been discussed before, didn't see anything on search. I was bombarded by an ad for this online store. The video that was playing in this ad looked like an effect I do ever so often, so I watched it. It was Trick Photography by Michael Ammar, but they were calling it "Close up illusion." The guy who "created" it doesn't even perform it well! It's very obvious in his performance! I was suprised. When I visited the site I found that lots of other illusions are other's work. Anyone else seeing this or am I crazy?

Hey Caleb,
I just went to pubtricks.com and was disappointed. Yeah, some of the stuff was other people's stuff (okay most of it was). But most of the videos were not that good at all. The quality of video and the performers themselves. This site would not make me want to buy and learn magic. Juggler |

They don't even know magic isn't supposed to be a puzzle!

If memory serves me correctly, isn't this "Close Up Illusion" which was created by Larry Jennings, not Michael Ammar.
Wow are they expensive at this site. People would be better off getting a copy of the Mark Wilson Course in Magic for about the same price as one trick for sale at this site. (Many of these tricks are in the Mark Wilson Course of Magic!!!) Does pubtricks have permission to resell other people's effects? |

Here's my two cents- and that's all I'd give for these people.
I really disagree with this website in so many ways. It's almost disappointing and aggrivating at the same time. Selling explanations. Explanations explained by teenagers it seems. Poor video quality. This really irks me and I believe it just downgrades magic. Now it seems anyone can have access to this, yes? Very poor. I did notice that the website doesn't have a contact link ??? Guess they didn't want any negative e-mails. Perhaps I should post one in the forum on their site. I'm all about giving credit when credit is due- but these 'kids' obviously don't know magic, or acting for the camera. Ugh- it's horrible. It's not even rehearsed! Looks like there's another Penguin Magic in the making here, guys. Offering "good stuff- cheap." Ripping off all the others who work really hard to produce quality products. I know I've worked hard producing mine! Then I log on a see some kid performing a color change that is someone elses and he's selling it for $5 bucks. Who did the research on effects? Not them! I don't know about any of you other performers out there but I really have a lack of respect for those who switch a move here and there and call it a new routine- their own routine... As always: best regards, Matt

Did anyone who has been on pubtricks.com see the demonstration of Twisting The Aces? And I thought I "um'd" and "Er'd" a little too much! Surely they could have taken the trouble to rehearse the patter so it sounds and looks good?
And you know, everyone drops the cards sometime, but couldn't they have re-done the demo til the performer got it right? It just smacks of poor preparation and wanting to make a "quick buck" to me. Justin

I was suckered to the site after they started following me on twitter and offered me a free trick! I immediately banned them from my followers and sent them a not nice message.

The best part is they are selling this site on ebay as a turnkey magic store

This website is clearly marketing other peoples work "passing off" as their own, they get people to create a video then pay to download the solution and share profits, there are dozens of peoples intellectual property on the site used without authorisation!
