Hello friends,
I just wanted to ask for prayer for recovery. I will try to keep this brief, what I have been through starting last Friday the 4th (I think) is this:
I went to emergency for kidney stone pain, etc. Was released about 1 pm the same day, told that it was close to "dropping". Lab work was all negative, what they had so far. I spent the rest of the day with migraine headache and fever and chills in addition to the side and back pain. The pain meds helped some but only during short cat naps was I getting any relief. Anyways this went on all day Saturday and by Sunday eve still no stone had passed and all my other symptoms were still there so I called back for advice on what to do. They said I should come back in. So Sunday evening I (in addition to my wife) was back in emergency (this is all with Kaiser and I am in no way complaining about them, they have been great for me). They took blood and other stuff and ran more tests including a ct scan. By about 1 am the urologist came in took one look at me and said I looked toxic. He had already been briefed by my emergency Dr. and gone over all the info up to that point. In his opinion I had a blocked passage due to the stone and developed an infection and needed a stint installed. I agreed to all of his recommendations and by 3 am I was receiving a spinal and getting prepped. The operation went fine and some very nasty stuff was able to drain finally. I was admitted for a day and a half or so while receiving antibiotics intraveneuosly and recovering, etc. The weird thing was, I was still having the strong headaches and experiencing the fever spells, this not only was very annoying but was worrisome to me as well.
But my Doctor said I would be leaving Tuesday afternoon. Well... then he called to speak with me and informed me that my blood had a bacteria in it and he consulted with an infectous disease specialist and I would not be going home in the afternoon and when I do get released it will be with an IV for 2 weeks. The infectous disease Dr. showed up gave me the scoop, said it was a result of the kideny stone infection but that I would need the IV etc. They still got me discharged that night (Tues. eve)with a portable IV, that is in a little case, so I don't have to wheel around a stand etc. They put in whats called a pick line and that's where I am now. Sorry for not being as brief as I thought I would be but the request part is that the headaches will finally go away. I am still suffering from them, although the fever is pretty much all gone now, PTL! My wife has been such a trooper, she's really held together and I am just so thankful to have someone like her who has just been great.
Anyone who feels led or willing, send up a prayer for my complete recovery and freedom from the headache, also for my wife and family who have had to pull together and not only care for me but pick up some of the slack regarding things I normally would be doing.
Thanks so much!

No problem. As bad as this is, God had a reason for it. I know you'll discover the reason someday. I'm also really REALLY impressed with how positive you seem about all this. That's great.

One prayer coming right up! God bless, and I hope you feel better soon!

Quick update, I am doing much better and am sitting at my desk at work as I write this. I have a portable IV hooked up that I will get to keep until sometime next week. It's quite the fashion statement! The headaches finally left me sometime Friday afternoon or so. The fever was gone around Wednesday. I still have the stone that caused all of this and I see the Urologist tomorrow.
But it's been quite an experience and it has felt good and made a difference to come on here and read some of you guys' responses and know that you've been praying for me. God does answer prayer and I know I have had a lot throughout this ordeal.
God bless all of you guys and Steve B. too for this awesome place we call The Magic Café.

Sounds like you are getting better and that is great to hear.
