I'm thinking about working up a sales letter to the local fire departments letting them know that I have some slots open in my schedule to perform holiday shows. I figure most fire departments I know have a holiday party for the firemen, their families, and friends.
Has anyone tried sending out this kind of sales letter? If so how were your results. Thanks, Tony |

Many years ago I sent a letter for holiday shows. This was successful as I got my 1% return that is expected. I suggest you have micro target marketed this type of client, why not just call them. You will need a flyer or brochure as a follow-up to the letter. The letter will only create interest, not make the sale.
So call and go see the person in charge of the xmas party. You would do well to contact the main office for the chairman of the party. Then make an appointment to go see them. |

I just thought I'd follow up on this. Last Saturday I sent out a sales letter to about 50 fire departments. So far I've booked an extra 3 shows for the holiday season. This has definitely paid off.

If you booked 3 extra shows GREAT IT WORKED!!
congrats! Next time I would suggest instead of waiting till the last minute you should send those letters early enough to fill the schedule in the first place! It is a great idea, just impliment it sooner. Then do it with the rest of your year also and your golded. What I mean is summer parties and fairs with churches.....memorial day, labor day, fourth of July, Valentines day, and so forth. Glad to hear of your sucess!
