I think this would go here....
I want to make a fake human hand to chop in half, it needs to be realistic. I'm using carved baby carrots held together with string tendons for the bones and (runns out and checks the fridge) this ground meat as flesh. The "skin" will (in theory) be a white, medium latex glove. (The disposable kind I'm using for my disection labs in Biology.) Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to make it's coloration look right? And what can I do for the fingernails? The point of all this you ask? In 2 weeks I'm giving a persuasive speech in my public speaking class, and I wanted a very effective attention getting device. Then an advertisement for Ginsu came on and it clicked. I would persuade my audience to buy "Saftey Chopping Boards" that have a clip at the top to hold your veggies as you cut them. The attention grabber will be chopping off my fingers.

Since your presentation involves you preparing food, I would just don the rubber gloves at the beginning of the routine, much the same way food handlers in restaurants routinely put on gloves when handling food.
That way, you don't have to bother disguising the appearance of the glove with the fake insides.

As always, good tips from Philemon.
If you are determined to have fingernails you could try the acrylic glue on nails that women use these days. Probably available from from beauty shops and if not they should know where to direct you. cheers Maynooth

You might just try a "fake" rubber hand as sold during Holloween. Mine is hollow up into the fingers. You could fill this with blood like liquid. If you slipped a rubber glove over it , it might more resemble your hand in a glove also (I'm thinking semi transparent gloves). Of course you could just use a rubber finger. Use it like a 6th finger between the others. If you move your hands naturally, people won't notice you have 6 fingers. You can "accidently" cut this one....

The latex glove when filled will not take a good appearence of a shaply hand. You will need liquid latex, paint a layer over you hand and wrist leave it to dry then repeat twice. When this is dry you will be able to peel it off like a tight fitting glove. Once painted with a skin colour paint then it will be the perfect shape of a hand. Just put a clear nail varnish over the impression of the nails to make them look more real.
