I was wondering if anyone could give a review on Greg Wilsons card stunts video. I'm considering getting it.

"Card Stunts" is a funny, real-time performance of Gregory Wilson's Magic Castle act. I use many of the effects on that video, particularly his general handling of "Reset" and "Phoenix Aces". The is a sequence where the four aces pop out of the box, one at a time, in different ways, and a really funny color changing deck (not explained, but hinted at).
There is a section called G-force, which involves the spectator picking the same card over and over again, to their own faux exasperation--really funny, and an absolute masterpiece in management. I am honest when I say it changed my thinking about cards, as I saw a killer, respectable, funny, and totally worth the money series of effects, well routined. Even people who think card tricks are a mundane undertaking for dorks will have to admit that this act is stellar--all card magic should be this entertaining. Hope this helps, Ron Oh, and by the way, this one of the only videos I intend to keep permanently--a rare occasion indeed. |

Am I the only one who thinks that Gregs resemblance to actor Steve Buscemi is pretty uncanny?

I would not recommend this video for the card enthusiast. It's the kind of video that after you watch it you think seriously about just putting away your cards and taking up bowling. My thoughts were: even if I have that much talent, would I have the time to get that good?

I think the video is a must for any magician who works close up or parlor. (maybe even stage - but that might be stretching it.)
Gregory shows a terrrific entertaining perfromance style, and clearly explains a lot of effects that take practice, but are worth it - in my opinion. I like his thinking and his teaching style is clear but fun. But you dont grow if you don't stretch, and although I do use a couple of the effects on the tape, some of the others helped me in my thinking about unrelated effects. Get it, and if you dont like it - sell it. But like Ron, this is one video that I would not sell from my collection. BroDavid

The video is particularly interesting because it combines dazzling flourishes with entertaining routines... something that can NOT be said about a few recent videos put on the market...
Just a thought...

This is one of the best videos I have seen. He blends comedy along with all the magic and flourishes. His personality is what sold me on the video. Highly recomended.

This is one of my favorite videos. I too would like it on dvd for easier reference, but I still pull it out to go over stuff. my favorite is the boomerang card of death, it took me about 3 months to get the shooting the card out of the deck down, but that was a few years and many miles of flight ago.

I think DVD may be release later. Because "on the spot" and off the cuff" were release DVD already. I think next time is "card stunts" or "ring leader"
