Hello all,
I was wondering if David Copperfield's museum was open to visit in Las Vegas. If yes, does anyone know where I can find some info, book the visit... Cheers

Pretty sure his "lair" is in the middle of the desert.... and I don't think you can just go there and window shop through his collection. DC is a very private man off the stage.
I'm telling you the truth, I swear....

Architectural Digest did a feature on it
proabably around 10 years ago. Its closed to the public or if you know him personally you can get a tour or through someone you know. the collectors had their convention there last year I believe or maybe this year. a few got a tour. I guess he like to run to the room prior to your getting there to see the look of 'surprise!' on your face. I guess he's like a kid in his own playground.
you will remember my name

The current tour program book for his show has an article about his 'International Museum and Library of the Conjuring Arts' which says:
"Access to the collection is available to scholars interested in the history of conjuring upon written application to the archivist." Action to take next...not sure really, but that may help you.

Just from a bit of research, Copperfield's collection is outstanding. I suppose many people have seen this on the Houdini special. A funny tidbit that I learned from Jim McCaffrey, a mentor of mine, the collection is stored in an old bra factory.
Cheers, mackmania

You can rest assured that the voice recording of Houdini in the DC collection is the one and only orginal recording, regardless of what you're reading on a web site.
David didn't always own it, so I supose a bootleg or two may be out there, but they're not original, nor is their provinance known. |

David Copperfield owns the only authentic recording and his " one of a kind" Houdini recording was featured on a science show just a few days ago. He has lent it to some audio expert who first authenticated it for him and this guy has been touring the country with it. You can see his last television appearance here.

Hello,
I don't want to start a new topic so I'm asking here. I translated a Spanish site which is claiming what David has in his museum. I read the name Vanek. Is there any chance to find out what material he has from Vanek? Anyone out there who knows? Thanks Las Here is the site.:To return to "the NEWS of David Copperfield" DAVID Copperfield ITS PRIVATE MUSEUM David Copperfield has a secret passion, to preserve the history of the art of the Magic for presents and future generations by means of a safe and permanent "house museum", where it collects and it keeps all type from antiques, books and other equipment related to the world of the Magic. It began years back, when compatible David of ConjurÃng bought in an auction the "Mulholland Library and the Allied Arts", C'La Library Mulholland de Mágia and Artes"). The collection contains but of 80,000 pieces, including 15,000 books on the art of the Magic, some of which they transport us to century XVI. Also "Book of the Magic" includes in this collection the rare unit, published in the new world and where, among other pieces of incalculable value, it appears the memorandum of Houdini. Because David acquired this collection. "There it was the existing most important testament. An incredible legacy of the world of the magic; an art to which I have dedicated all my life.... It wanted to be sure that this library of a incalculable value was not divided ". Just a short time later, the collection ' of David ample Copperfield with the whole purchase of individual pieces and other collections. In the present time and Library is known like "The Intemational Museum of the conjuring Arts' ("Museum and Library the International of Magic"). David Copperfield always has wanted to preserve the magic of other times in a "alive museum" that survives all and that disposition of the new generations has left. Possibly the magic is considered like one of the oldest and universal arts of the history of the scenic arts. Nowadays, "The International Museum and Library of the Conjuring Arts", is the most complete museum of historical documentation of magic objects and illusion Recently the museum acquired "The Cole Collection", the most important collection of the United States. In this enormous acquisition, that occupies a space of 141 m3, objects and documents can be found related to the magic, and that until the moment of their acquisition, was kept in a warehouse in Sotherby's, London. The museum also lodges the collection of Dr Robert J. Albo, the more important private collection and possibly completes on Magic. Between the recent acquisitions they are included: the collection of posters of magic of Jay Marshal and the one of Dante/Thurston. At the present time the museum is extending its facilities to accommodate new acquisitions. The library of the museum contains works in more than 20 languages, and that go from century XVI to contemporary volumes. Materials of Heller, Bosco, Leroy, Goldin, Cazeneuve, Vanek, Dobler, Okito, Blitz, Dante, Herrmann, Chung Ling Soo, Thurston, Blackstone and thousands of other artists. Also it contains thousands of graphical images, posters, engravings and photographies that gather from images of the magicians of long ago, happening through most modern, until the most falsified. Also, the collection includes notes, cuts and manuscripts of the recognized magicians more of the last years. Hundreds of objects of Houdini, and that it originally donated to the Mulholland Collection. Among others things can be found as surprising as a onginal cylinder of Edison, in whom the only recordings of voice of Houdini are listened to, obtained in 1914. Among other treasures of the museum, they also are the incredible robot constructed by Robert Houdini, the father of the modern magic. Stone lithographies, posters and posters of magicians, enrich the walls of the museum. The conservation of these collections and objects of incalculable price, is the main mission of the museum. Thousands of documents, posters and books have been rescued of the destruction, like part of the program for the conservation and restoration started up by the museum. All and each one of the contemporary magicians tries to be most original, but the museum is the eloquent test of the rich mosaic of contributions, as much of men as of women, who through the times have gathered all the possible forms of art. "The Intemational Museum and Library of the Conjuring Arts" is a put private collection to disposition of all the students interested in the compatible Arts. As it shows and comprising of the matchless collection of the museum pieces can be found like: The Trunk of the metamorphosis of Houduni: the predecessor of one of the most popular tricks of the present magicians. Lamparas of "appearance and disappearance" of Houdini still in use. The floating ball of Okito: at his moment it deceived until a the own magicians. The letters Houdini/Kefler: A fascinating correspondence between two legendary artists. The turban of Alexander, "The men who knows": the turban suggests whichever Alexander knew. The smoking of Cardini: monóculo and instruments of work. Rifle of Chung Ling Soo: possibly the arc that ternúnó with the race of ChÃng Lee Soo in the scene, when its famous trick "to take the ball with the foot" ended its life. The cabin of the spirit of Dante: the precursor of the tricks of midnight horror, that terrified to the lovers of the fear in years 40 and 50. The chair of the beheaded princess of Maskelyne and Orson Wells: The trick of the designed for Rita Hayworth and interpreted buzzing mountain range with Marlene Dietrich. Some of the oldest and important works of Literature that are in the museum include: The first edition of the discovery of the witchcraft of Seott in 1854: first important work in English language on spells, written in the time in which the magic books were burned like witchcraft acts. I wonder if, late at night after a couple of glasses of wine, DC ever puts Alexanders turban on his head?
