Charges vary by each show. However, I also learned that it's important to stress your show offers a money-back guarantee - that you'll refund their money if they are not satisfied. Believe me, this is good for business. And I learn this philosophy of good magic practice from the maestro magi Reed McClintock!

I agree with evolve629. I always tell my customers that my shows cost $50, but if they feel that it was not worth that, they can pay less, and vice versa if they love my show enough that they would want to pay more. Basically, my base price is $50, but they can alter that if they feel it should be different. I trust their judgement.

Gee, no wonder the pros have trouble getting work, what with people willing to do a party for $50!
Frankly, price isn't everything, people, you HAVE to figure in a few other factors, like, do you use live critters in your show (feed, medical, licenses and all that COST you, factor it in to your pricing)? How far do you have to travel to GET to the how (gas prices are rising again, fans)? Do you work alone, or do you have an assistant (whom you have to PAY as well)? Do you use big illusions, which you have to store somewhere and which have to be repaired and kept in good shape, which costs)? Do you use anything that you have to replace during your show, like hat tears, balloons, lemons, $100 bills? Once you have factored all of that in, you have the base amount it COSTS you to PRODUCE your show. THEN, you have to figure out how much you want to MAKE when you PERFORM your show. Add the two numbers together and you have the amount you SHOULD be charging FOR your show. Welcome to basic economics. Lee Darrow, C.H.

Luckily for me other then a lemon, I don't have anything that costs per show. I basically get the whole 50 dollars as profit. I do a little bit of newspaper stuff, but I just get newspaper from people that would be thrown away.

He is probably done buying everything he needs. He already bought everything he needs, and doenst need anything else, so the money is profit for things he wants to do. Anyways, that my guess. The only thing my money is going for now that I have pretty much everything I need, is movies, paintball, cards when I run out, the occasional new effect. Lots of stuff.

I found a good routine for myself, and I only change it up if I'm doing another show for the same client. I have a ton of stuff I could use if I needed another routine for someone.

When I started to perform I was charging $75 per hour show and when I started to get calls because of word of mouth, business cards I gave out and the add I put in the yellow pages, then I charged $200 to $450
The people I gave quotes of $450 would say wow that’s to high, they were looking to entertain 500 workers for a holiday party and it was in the city, and I would have to pay to park my van in the city. So after I had booked a birthday party for $200 on the date the corporate show told me and did not book me, I get a call a week later that they wanted to hire me for the corporate show and I had to tell her I was already booked. When she had told me that $450 was to much I told her to check with other magicians in her area. My guess was she could not find one with a lower quote than what I gave her and many of then were booked. Maro
